Today we have announced that Jim Leaviss has decided to leave M&G to pursue personal interests in academia following a 27-year career with the firm. Andrew Chorlton has been appointed Chief Investment Officer of Fixed Income and will join later this year, reporting to Joseph Pinto, CEO of M&G Investments. Jim Leaviss, said: "It’s been a tremendous privilege to work at M&G for almost three decades and lead the team through the growth of bond markets during that time. I’m really proud of our team of fixed income professionals, the talent we’ve developed and what we’ve achieved for clients. Innovation is embedded into our culture, with the business having launched the UK’s first corporate and high yield bond funds, and how we communicate with clients with the launch of the Bond Vigilantes blog in 2006. Our investment range has grown dramatically, of note the launch of the M&G Optimal Income Fund which became one of the largest funds in Europe and our leading European credit capabilities that have an excellent reputation with international clients. We are delighted to confirm that in March, M&G plc completed a £309m bulk purchase annuity transaction for around 3,700 pensioner and deferred members of the NSK Pension Scheme – a global manufacturer of bearings, automotive, and precision machinery products. There was a strong alignment of interest between the sponsoring Company, the Trustee and M&G to complete this transaction within the first quarter of the year, and an efficient and collaborative process from all parties involved was critical in hitting this deadline. This is the third buy-in transaction completed by M&G since re-entering the bulk annuity market in September 2023, with total new business written now at nearly £1bn. We have welcomed 30 talented undergraduate students who have joined M&G for an eight-week internship across Finance, Risk and Compliance, Wealth, Technology and Asset Management. The cohort, based in London, Edinburgh and Stirling will be getting an insight into what it’s like to work at M&G and within the financial services industry.
