Some fantastic learnings from the UCL Marketing and Communications Conference today 🚀. The event was a goldmine for anyone looking for a whistlestop tour of what’s new and relevant in higher education. Highlights included: ▶ Strategic Comms insights from (Heather) Karen Campbell-White and CEO of Pulsar, Francesco D'Orazio’, emphasising the importance of “thinking narratives, not news cycles” and measuring these before and after campaigns. ▶ An engaging student recruitment exercise that challenged us to adapt strategies based on changing political and economic landscapes. There are more factors to consider and plan for than you think. ▶ Journalist Sophia Smith Galer - who’s accustomed to turning academic content into bite size video verticals, shared storytelling expertise, emphasising the importance of using real people to spread the word. Kudos to UCL teams for organising such a valuable event for communications and marketing colleagues. I'm looking forward to applying these insights to my work 🙌 .
