Join us this Thursday, 18 July, for a Spanish-language forum on best practice in livestock and sustainable agriculture: https://lnkd.in/eteb7YgN The #Under2Coalition has been working with regional governments in Peru through the Alliance for Regenerative Ranching in the Peruvian Amazon (AGRAP) 🌳🐄 to incentivize and promote sustainable livestock farming with a regenerative approach to reduce its ecological🌱🌎 impact. Now we're using what we've learnt to build the technical capacity and fundamental knowledge of state and regional governments in the #Under2Coalition and #AGRAP Coalition for Sustainable Production on the transparency of livestock production chains. 🌳🐄 We will hear from the Bolivian Sustainable Meat Roundtable, Edward Moreno and GANSO Ganadería Sostenible, Jhon F. Gutiérrez Solis and Laura Milena Agudelo about the importance of traceability in meat production and of monitoring deforestation to promote sustainable agriculture and ranching in Latin America. Escucharemos de la #MesaBolivianadeCarneSostenible, Edward Moreno y GANSO Ganadería Sostenible, Jhon F. Great to see our #SteelZero member SKF Group putting their commitment into practice and achieve real progress in tackling steel emissions in their products. Finding solutions and working together with supplier voestalpine Wire Technology is the collaboration we need to see replicated. By all businesses, and across all supply chains.
Along with voestalpine Wire Technology, part of the steel and technology group voestalpine, we have made the first prototype bearing with steel that has hydrogen direct reduced iron (H-DRI). As H-DRI makes steel with less emissions than normal iron ore-based methods it is one of the important ways to make steel more eco-friendly in the future. Watch Annika Ölme ♦️, CTO and Senior Vice President, Technology Development, at SKF, talk about how this is a big step in reducing the carbon footprint of bearing production. Today, alongside #Under2Coalition we've launched a new #ZEVCommunity zero emission trucking report, setting out key areas of focus for subnational governments to promote the switch to #zeroemission heavy trucks. The report recommends: 🚚 Setting clear phase out dates for petrol and diesel engines - 2030 for polluting buses and 2040 for trucks. 🚛 Working with businesses, like pioneering companies involved in our #EV100plus initiative. 🚍 Engaging and working closely with utilities companies to accelerate the deployment of charging infrastructure, map future energy demand and streamline the planning and permitting process. Trucks are a significant contributor to air pollution, representing just 4% of all vehicles on the road globally but accounting for 40% of all road transport emissions and a third of total transport fuel use - it's vital we tackle these emissions fast. Ladakh, located in India’s north, is a fragile ecosystem. Dr. Ajaz Hussain has been a State Climate Fellow there. He shares his experience in the third video of our series with State Climate Fellows. He’s worked with the Power Development Department on #renewable energy projects in local communities to meet Ladakh’s energy needs from #renewables. He’s also created heatmaps to identify wetlands, peatlands and lakes, which could serve as carbon sinks. Watch the video below. Our State Climate Fellowship is a unique programme in India where we’re matching young, skilled professionals with subnational governments to support their #climate plans. They’re putting their expertise to use on some hard climate problems. Watch the first and second videos we released on the experiences of our Fellows in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Tripura: https://lnkd.in/gaXPpiJZ Know more about the Fellowship: https://lnkd.in/dmRTj4Ud Divya Sharma Rana Pujari Shikha Dhawan Avantika S.
