Our very own Senior Consultant, Cathy Gallagher, held a session at Women's Aid Federation of England's National Conference yesterday. She shared insights into how employers can access the new Level 4 Domestic and sexual abuse support worker apprenticeship standard for their staff. Skills for Justice worked with Women's Aid to design the new apprenticeship in an effort to improve support for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Thank you Women’s Aid for inviting us to connect with professionals across the country and share our insights into this apprenticeship standard. #EndAbuseTogether

We like a win here and so while some of us might be disappointed after Sunday's game, our office sweepstake meant that we would always be able to celebrate. So congratulations to Bryony N. who drew Spain and now gets a prize 👏  And a big cheer to our generous colleagues who, by taking part in our sweepstake, raised £75 for Starlight Children's Foundation - UK (https://lnkd.in/gfTxgJ6) - a charity dedicated to providing play for children in healthcare to boost their wellbeing and resilience during illness.

Today was one of my favourite work days. Matthew Girdlestone and I had a brilliant day visiting HMP Lowdham Grange. Amazing work by Skills for Justice, who donated loads of books to support with prisioner literacy. Huge thanks to Devizes Books for the book donations, and all the staff at The Workforce Development Trust who supported too. Thanks to Wayne Peters and Neil Thomas OBE for their time and hospitality; it was great to hear about all the work going on to keep prisoners safe and feel valued, and supporting staff development. The prisoner learning and skill opportunities were very impressive.

Well done Dr. Rowena Hill MBE who was been named in the King's Birthday Honours List! The Workforce Development Trust trustee has been awarded an MBE for her role as National Collaborative Lead of the Covid-19 Foresight Group (C19 NFG), a group set up to support the UK response to Covid-19.  Rowena, who is Professor of Resilience, Emergencies and Disaster Science at Nottingham Trent University, led teams across universities and sectors, anticipating pandemic impacts over varying timeframes. These insights then empowered national and local decision makers to plan effectively.
