Yesterday, we attended the #TheXec. class of ‘24’s graduation held at Google UK, and it was inspiring to witness the significant impact this initiative has had on #BME leaders in the UK. Programs like the Xec are crucial, especially given the challenges in the PR industry, including racial diversity. The statistics are startling; if you hone in on London alone - despite having the most diverse workforce with 40% being from a BME background, only 1 in 10 hold leadership positions. This disparity must change because BME leaders do exist. Wimbart remains a strong advocate for movements like the Xec, and it was heartwarming to see Cohort 3 recap their 10-month journey to previous cohorts, mentees, industry players, and loved ones. We are immensely proud of the progress made and the barriers broken by these inspiring individuals. Kudos to Elizabeth Bananuka and Claire Quansah for their dedication to making a change in our industry.  Their efforts are truly transforming the landscape of PR in the UK.
