A flying visit to the UK (definitely not solely to go and watch a football match) meant I got to squeeze in an all day face-to-face meet with my co-founders in Critical Hit Agency who head up our UK operation, Matt Cuttle & Mark Bishop. The point of this post? Teams/ Zoom is great, but every so often face-to-face interaction simply cannot be beaten. Obviously it’s always good to spend quality time with lovely people, but from a work POV, the productivity from sessions like this? Off the scale. Video Case Study for First Cymru Buses Ltd. 🚌    We produced a new promotional film for First Cymru recently to launch a new campaign of theirs called “Tap On, Tap Off”    I thoroughly enjoyed working with the voice of the Scarlets Rugby himself, Luke Davies. On the day he was a pro at learning and performing his lines, word for word! It was a first for me and certainly won’t be the last.    Thanks to some well-executed planning, I'm very proud of the finished product. Because of this, our finished film turned out exactly as we expected as we prepared our script. As the saying goes, “Fail to prepare. prepare to fail!” It was a big win for the Stori Cymru team. This was a first for my wife Amy Owen to get her first major edit signed off with minimal support from me. As inspired by the McLaren Racing video for #INWED24 Dear younger me, We are doing it! It’s not easy, but by sixth form we knew it wouldn’t be. We still do doubt ourselves often, questioning if we only got the job because we are female, why was our voice not heard, will the men think less of us because we can’t lift heavy equipment and should we really be doing this? But despite these daily thoughts and at times those thoughts being met with real life messaging that say we are less, we keep going! We are an engineer because it’s what we love to do. It’s what we have always loved. We have pushed through failure and have come out with lessons to success. We have a first class in music technology, we have worked and still work at some of the biggest and best companies. We don’t need to be able to lift heavy equipment by ourselves! We don’t need to sit and struggle with a problem. We definitely don’t need to listen to others who think we are less. We work with other incredible engineers as a team! We have found our people and we no longer have to be alone. We can just be us. An engineer, doing what we love and succeeding. From Future you. Thank you to the ladies before me who paved the way. I love what I do. Despite struggling with doubt and imposter syndrome which as mentioned above is met with negative comments from the world. We keep going. We keep showing we can. We work together and we become stronger as one. We don’t let our gender get in the way of doing something we love!

The odds are slim that you’ll be waiting with bated breath today for news from a Westminster Media Forum, but if you work with gambling brands, there’s a lot at stake. There are some phenomenal statistics related to the gambling industry, but the most telling one is that since the inception of the National Lottery, almost half of all adults now gamble once a month. And yet, the Lottery isn’t officially considered gambling, doesn’t come under the jurisdiction of the Gambling Commission, and will get little or no attention in today’s discussions. If they come into play, then last years’ proposals of a statutory levy and a gambling ombudsman may mean the sector has to adapt an awful lot, but it’s a safe bet to say it’ll all mean little to the Lotto. https://lnkd.in/gADP6rfs

It may not be the news that sets Morris dancers to their merry jigs around the Maypole, but one of the stats in particular really stood out for me. Players in the UK racked up an astonishing 9.5 million hour-long online slots sessions in the first three months of 2024. That’s over 570 million minutes of gameplay - equivalent to 17,000x James Milner's Premier League career minutes - and that doesn't even include the more casual games! Let’s face it, slots aren’t everyone’s cup of tea (just like Morris dancing!), but this dedication by a passionate bunch of players shows why studios and operators (like our friends at IGT PlayDigital) invest so much to constantly evolve and move with the times. Those emotions are vital as people are more likely to buy if they feel good. - We used personalisation in the discount code, further enhancing the special feel of the email and making it unique. - We sent over 756,872 versions of this email - every single one unique.
