On a very serious note, I don't think people consider the toll it takes to live away from the city you once called home and attempt to lead a well-balanced life without a decent salary in London. In all honesty, my entry into sales was nothing more than survival. Six years ago in a team of fifteen, three of my colleagues, with whom I shared the same salary in a non-creative company, admitted that they were participating in sex work to subsidise their salaries. Sadly, the salary in question isn't a million miles away from the role below. Considering how significantly different our economy is and rising costs, I dread to think how taxing life currently is for anyone on similar salaries who don't have the benefit of living rent-free or with reduced outgoings from bills to travel etc. This may not be the post you typically read on LinkedIn, but I hope it serves as a reality check for companies and individuals in a position to pay entry-level positions more, because the consequence can be worse than you think.

Our job is not as simple as just “chucking up a post” in order to gain an audience. From my experience building a viral algorithm is exactly like building a business. You have to start from the bottom up with almost the same amount of research. Look at your demographics, sociograohics and psychographics. Instagram has it all there for you. Also, the location of your audience is vital! Posting in the morning (uk time) will mean you will reach American’s when they wake up in 5-8 hours and Australians who are just going to bed. It takes the same amount of maintenance too. Too keep your algorithm you need to follow the Instagram rules which change on a monthly to bi-monthly basis. I started consistently posting content on my platform everyday in February. It took me 3 weeks to hit instagram’s sweet spot in order to push me onto a viral algorithm. From there it’s a reward system. The more consistent you are and the more you stick to instagram’s wants and needs…the more likely you are to go viral. For example, in February it wanted me to post 3 reels a day and only use 3 hashtags. Whereas in May it was sticking to the time stamp of less than 10 seconds. If you stop for two days in the midst of your rise the platform will punish you. In the first 3 weeks I eventually went viral. After posting every single day. However, the viral reel had only hit the algorithm on the 3rd day of being online. Before that it had recieved 934 views on a platform with 20k followers. It’s now at 24.8M. After this I continued posting boosting other reels to 14M and 1.8M with average views on other reels of 100k-250k. Just because something has gone viral it does not mean your content will automatically go viral. It’s an unrealistic expectation. It takes work….in depth research and hours of scrolling to find viral sounds too.

After so long for not posting my recent works with brands, here's my UGC work for Chatime Malaysia! 🧋🌽✨ They're sooo tasty to be honest 🤤 This is a drink review of UGC for their new corn drinks launched during Ramadan until the end of April. I'm not expecting and thought to do this type of hook until I filmed myself and drank both of the tasty corn drinks simultaneously! 😂🔥 It turns out as a catchy hook in this video ✨ Actually, what I want to highlight here is the mix languages used in this video which are English and Malay. It's because people frequently talk in mix languages to each other especially in Malaysia, but I don't know how about your country? Is it the same too? 🤷🏻‍♀️ This shows you as a UGC creator can create contents for brands more than one language which is a bonus for you and brands too! What 2 years post graduation has looked like for me. 500+ job applications. A hand full of final stage interviews. And only one of these companies I got to the final ruicruitment process with could let me know that I didn’t get the job. 2 empty promises from companies. 1 Creative agency cancelling my application because I applied to another role within the company, while already having an active application. Multiple applications to unpaid internships. Numerous hours I have taken to compleatly creative tasks for companies, all to not get any feedback or a response to the fact I was unsuccessful. Countless times my follow up emails have been ignored. 0 job offers. And once again only once have I received any feedback as to why I was unsuccessful. Companies need to better their recruitment process and the feedback they give. How are we supposed to know what we are doing wrong when we get no response. They are expecting applicants to take days and hours to complete tasks attend interviews and more, yet once at the final stage they can’t even send a curtosey email to say you were unsuccessful and here’s why. The creative industry is pushing me away before I’ve even had the chance to get my foot in the door!

Many law firms turn their noses up at TikTok: "I don't want to dance on camera." "I'm not interested in low-quality leads." "My type of client isn't on that platform." This mindset shows a complete misunderstanding of TikTok's potential. Take Libby Hendry, for example. She leveraged the "I'm looking for a man in finance" trend to create an outstanding outcome: 🌟 9.5 million views 🌟 964.2k likes 🌟 5,000 new followers 🌟 LADbible Group wanting to feature her account 🌟 Messages about vacancies 🌟 Enquiries for legal work I've also seen local Australian lawyers like: David Gale has seen massive success on TikTok growing a following and his practice at the same time. Jahan Kalantar boasts over 400k followers and attained opportunities like being interviewed on Sunrise. When done right, few platforms offer the reach, authority, and visibility of TikTok for just an afternoon's work and minimal cost. As someone who's been a Google guy for the past decade, you might wonder why I care so much about TikTok. The answer is simple: Google increasingly values strong brands. However, building a brand solely on Google is getting tougher. We need to explore other platforms like TikTok to boost our brand presence, which in turn positively impacts our Google efforts. There's also a huge shift occurring: People are no longer searching only on Google—they are searching on TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn as well as Google. So if you're only optimising on Google, I'd question whether you're future-proofing your law firm.

PSA 📣 it's time to ditch the cover letters! Traditional job ads that still require a cover letter; sorry but it's time to move on. Seriously, it's super off-putting for applicants for multiple reasons: ✍️ Cover letters take TIME to write and personalise for each individual job. ✍️ Even more likely, that job will have loads of applications already and you'll probs be ghosted. ✍️ That wasted time adds up, and often efforts are best directed elsewhere. ✍️ A cover letter feels BEGGY?? "pls give me a job I just love your company so much 🥺". Employers, take note: ✍️ Most people use trusty chat-GPT to write letters anyway to save time. ✍️ How many paragraphs can your hiring manager read through before they get bored? ✍️ Surely it's just regurgitating what's already laid out in your CV? Just with more filler words. ✍️ You could miss a star candidate who might not shine on an A4 in Time New Roman. I'm seeing more and more job ads bringing a fresh twist to their adverts, prioritising first impressions made in person, not in paragraphs. Time'sa changing, so let's start by ditching those cover letters, shall we? Agree? Don't agree? Recently our Social Media Executive, Mia Green, and Social Media Manager, Lois Hoff, attended D&AD in London and here's a few things they learnt... ✔️ Algorithms are not as complex as we think, play with them. Essentially it is a breakdown of how TikTok reads your mind; it’s a flow of information and processes. Like making a cup of tea. 🌎 AI has a (pretty scary) large and growing carbon footprint. 1 prompt on chat GBT is the equivalent of 7L of water. 📱 42% of 18-25 year olds believe it's too hard to break into the creative industry. 👋🏻 Ignore the 'viral' TikTok formats. Focus on telling a story instead. 👀 Humans are driven by emotion - the importance of the value of products is decreasing in marketing but the access to human emotion is increasing. We need to tap into this.

With almost a billion active users, Linkedin surely is an untapped marketing powerhouse for brands. John’s testament is one result in the case study that the “influence” also works for B2C and that Linkedin will not be only for: 1. Finding new jobs or, 2. Finding B2B customers. What's next for me? 💭💭💭 Since returning from a fab few months living in Germany 🇩🇪 I've faced months of uphill battles trying to find a job back home in Yorkshire, UK 😮‍💨 Currently crafting copy for an independent fashion brand on a freelance basis, I am on the lookout for further opportunities 👀 Whether in writing, marketing, publishing, or the charitable sector. A bit about me... ✨ I have an English Language and Creative Writing degree ✨ In my last role as a Marketing Executive in the manufacturing industry, I established and grew their online presence, independently produced technical content - presenting the company as an industry leader, and secured new accounts ✨ I enjoy running, vinyl records (60s-80s tunes🤘🏼), creative writing, and travelling ✈️ ✨ I’m currently working on my first two manuscripts 📚 As an 8-year-old scribbling stories, I thought I would have things figured out by my twenties. I thought I'd have my dream creative career, but sometimes life doesn't work like that. Each time I receive another generic rejection to carefully curated applications, I try not to take it personally. Try not to see it as a failure. Perhaps there was someone more qualified. Perhaps it wasn't right for me. Perhaps life has something else in store. Perhaps… You may well have seen my past posts on this topic, and to anyone who tagged someone or shared it, I'm truly grateful. I'm trying to see the haze that is my unknown future as a positive thing, as a chance to define it as whatever I want it to be. But the lack of opportunities thus far makes that rather difficult. I was recently scrolling on TikTok and came by an exciting opportunity so OF COURSE I took it… Eat By Amy (@eatbyamy on TikTok) is a vegan baker and recently posted a TikTok looking to hire some savvy young people for some roles, one of which was a social media manager. With nothing but a brand name, brand colour palette, brand target demographic & short brand description I set myself the challenge to apply. I got onto the second stage which was to present a social media launch plan! With nothing to lose, I created this short pitch! I designed the logo, slides, objectives and launch concept! (I haven’t heard back yet but when I do hear back I’ll let you all know the outcome!) I hope you all enjoy flipping through as much as I loved designing this concept! P.s.
