It’s been an amazing few weeks exploring the world of data engineering under the mentorship of Oluwafemi Olawoyin MBCS. Just like other data professions, I found data engineering fascinating and worth my time and attention. While I’m not new to tools like Python and SQL, interacting with databases from a Python environment and performing basic ETL has been especially intriguing. 100 Data Science Projects?!! Is it possible? I'm not sure Is it going to be worth it? Certainly!! So for what it's worth, I'll give it a try. For close to two years now, I've been privileged to attain a scholarship by Ingressive For Good to make use of the resources at DataCamp to foster learning and acheive my tech dream of being a Data Scientist and AI developer. Some Career tracks I've been able to complete are: Python Fundamentals SQL Server Developer Data Analyst in SQL Data Analyst with PowerBI Fundamentals in Tableau Data Analyst with Python Data Scientist with Python And with one more project to complete; Developing Large Language Models. With a well equipped repertoire of data tools which include: #Python, #SQL, #PowerBI, and #Tableau, I suppose I'm up to the challenge #100datascienceprojects. From Church Chats to Data Insights... Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in your church group chat? I recently embarked on a challenging but rewarding project to analyze my church WhatsApp group's conversations. Believe it or not, I didn't even know you could extract chat data for analysis! But after some research, I discovered a fantastic WhatsApp library toolkit. its the whatstk library. Challenges & Support: Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing. I faced some should i say alot hurdles along the way. Days, i just shut down my laptop cause it didnt just work but Thankfully, the whatstk repository on github had room for questions and that was a lifesaver! They provided invaluable guidance and helped me overcome obstacles. Also, Erland Sada's blog on Medium was of great help to me as well... A Beautiful Outcome: The entire process was a beautiful journey of learning and discovery. It was amazing to see the insights emerge from our church conversations. Week 6: Wrapping Up and Leveling Up at CWW Tech Africa This week at CWW Tech Africa marked a fantastic conclusion to my journey towards becoming a data analyst! I tackled some essential final touches to showcase my newfound skills and dipped my toes into the exciting world of data manipulation languages. Portfolio Powerhouse: I mastered the art of crafting a compelling portfolio using Google Sites. Customization became easy as I learned to tailor my online presence. Articles and medians took center stage! I explored the importance of including project write-ups in my portfolio and honed my writing skills with valuable tips. The concept of medians was demystified, adding another tool to my data analysis belt. A Glimpse into the Programming Powerhouse: The week wasn't complete without a taste of the powerhouses: SQL, Python, and R. You embarked on an introductory journey into these programming languages, a glimpse into the vast possibilities that lie ahead. #cwwtechcohort6 #cwwtechafrica2024

Are you sick of not getting a Data job, here is a medicine, Our Data Professional of the Week, Opeyemi Fabiyi is telling you to relax and cool your nerves, you will soon be happy. Ope says you shouldn’t pressure yourself or feel like Data isn't for you or you need to do something better. According to him, there are many things in play, yes, hard work & doggedness are required, but sometimes luck & timing also comes into play in ways unexplainable. So don't pressure yourself or beat yourself up hard that you need to do more. Keep pushing and shooting those applications. Yes, there will be tons of rejections and ghosting because landing that first data job is generally difficult. Are you in the following category as a newbie still looking for the 1st data job: 📌 Have you learnt all the fundamental skills - Excel, SQL, and Viz tool (PowerBI/Tableau)? 📌 Have you worked on projects and have a portfolio to show your good command of those tools? 📌 Do you have a well-reviewed resume that highlights your skills? 📌 Are you in any active community where jobs are constantly shared, and you are applying? 📌 Do you try as much as possible to communicate your skills in your way in public? Ope says “If your answer to the above is yes, and you are still struggling to get that first data job, it's not your fault, and you aren't doing anything wrong. Just keep at it. The right opportunity will meet your preparedness.” Only some people will get their first data job in less than six months. They are the minority and outliers, not the norm. Don't give up! Are you interested in a collaboration? Happy New Week! Last week, my colleague OLUOKUN ADEWUMI ESTHER and I decided to collaborate on a visualization project. We researched and gathered YouTube data from Kaggle, then wrote our Python scripts individually, which involved some data cleaning. This exercise highlighted the beauty of dynamism, showing that there are different ways to achieve a goal. We both faced challenges at times, but we supported each other, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and communication. Even though we wrote our scripts independently, we worked together to overcome obstacles. After agreeing on the key insights we wanted to communicate with our dashboards, we visualized our data using different tools: she used Power BI, and I used Looker Studio. I also added a pdf file but it didn’t do justice to the looker dashboard while the first two pages which is from PowerBi done by OLUOKUN ADEWUMI ESTHER came out beautifully. I Became Closer to My 30s and Here’s What I’ve Learned About Data Analysis So Far Having just celebrated another birthday, I’ve been reflecting on my professional journey in data analysis. Last Saturday I had this Great session with Tobi Oladimeji and the Data Fellows community and it was an awesome time sharing my journey and experience with the community and answering burning questions from new learners. Here are some things we chatted about: 1. I shared how the journey started for me. 2. The role Data Fellows played in my growth 3. My learning roadmap and why I chose DataCamp 4. Shared the challenges I've faced so far and the lessons I've learned 5. Discussed my wins My biggest win is the growth mindset this whole process has instilled in me and it's priceless. The discipline and consistency required to break through is a life skill. Here are the top two most interesting questions I was asked: 1. Person A: "I completed a 1month boot camp where I learned data analytics with Excel but I don't feel like a data analyst as I'm yet to learn SQL or a visualization tool, can I call myself a data analyst now or wait after I learned these other two tools?" 2. Person B: "I am a data scientist and I code really well, how can I build my skills in solving real business problems with my code".
