First Edition. FUTURIA FANTASIA, Graham, 2007, first edition, as new in Hannes Bok dust-wrapper. 1/1,000 copies of the trade edition, this one specially SIGNED by the author. During the years 1939 and 1940, when Ray Bradbury was 19 and 20 years old respectively, he published a mimeographed fanzine which lasted all of 4 issues, each with a print run of approximately 100 copies. Many of the items within each issue were actually written by Ray himself under various pseudonyms. However, his ability to get others to contribute was anything but modest. Hannes Bok, Henry Haase, J. Harvery Haggard, Robert Heinlein, Henry Kuttner, Damon Knight, Emil Petaja, Ross Rocklyn & Bruce Yerkes as well as several others known in science fiction fandom, amateurs and professional writers alike, also gave generously of their work. Want to read a little known tale (actually the authors fifth appearance in print) which was Robert Heinleins only contribution to a fanzine? It's here. Want to read Ray Bradbury's first story set on Mars? It's here. Want to see early artwork by Hannes Bok that you may not have seen elsewhere. It too is here. Indeed many if not most of the contributions in these 4 fanzines are not available anywhere else. A must book for all those interested in the early writings of Ray Bradbury and the other artists named above.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. 1st Edition. Signed by Virginia Heinlein at the end of the Foreword. Dust jacket protected by a clear, removable mylar sleeve. Remainder mark at base of text block near spine. The late Heinlein, considered the "Father of Modern Science Fiction," was also a prolific letter writer. Virginia Heinlein, his wife of 40 years, has skillfully organized a selection of his voluminous correspondence. The result is a memoir that will appeal not just to fans, but to anyone interested in the creative process. Heinlein's letters, mostly addressed to his long-time agent, are grouped into topical chapters: "About Writing Methods and Cutting"; Fan Mail and Other Time Wasters"; and "Stranger," (referring to his novel, Stranger in a Strange Land ). Other chapters cover domestic concerns, travel, etc. Coupled with Virginia Heinlein's commentary, this arrangement helps alleviate the disjointedness often associated with similar compilations. While the book is not autobiographical, it does reveal the psyche of a popular science fiction author. Signed by the Editor.

LIMITED TO ONLY 750 SIGNED COPIES Illustrated by Thomas Canty The first science-fiction novel to enter The New York Times bestseller list, Robert A. Heinlein s Stranger in a Strange Land is one of the genre s most groundbreaking works of literary fiction. Valentine Michael Smith is human, but he has never met another member of the human race. After being raised by Martians, he is sent to Earth, where he must learn what it means to be human. On this planet, he struggles to understand the social mores and prejudices of human nature that are so alien to him, while his own powers including telepathy, clairvoyance, telekenesis, and teleportation make him a God amongst humans. Stranger in a Strange Land is Heinlein s deliberate attempt to challenge social mores, exploring the meaning and relevance of institutions including religion, monogamy, money, and the fear of death. Generating considerable controversy upon its release, the novel was banned from school libraries and reading lists, while many reviewers took offense to what they assumed was Heinlein s view of how society should be. Heinlein later stated, I was not giving answers. I was trying to shake the reader loose from some preconceptions and induce him to think for himself, along new and fresh lines. It is an invitation to think not to believe. Stranger in a Strange Land won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1962. Signed Artist Edition Personally signed by Thomas Canty. 6 x 9 trim size. 312 Pages. Limited to 750 copies. Full cloth, smyth-sewn binding. Two hits foil stamping. Dust jacket with wraparound artwork by Thomas Canty (the only edition featuring the dust jacket.) Heinlein (1907-1988) was an American science-fiction author, aeronautical engineer, and retired naval officer. Sometimes referred to as the dean of science-fiction writers, he was among the first to emphasize scientific accuracy in his fiction. Heinlein published over one hundred novels, short stories, and articles in his life, and won six Hugo awards. His influence can be clearly seen in the writings of many important authors writing today. Signed by Illustrator(s).
