Eileen Merriweather loves to get lost in a good happily-ever-after. The fictional kind, anyway. Because at least imaginary men don’t leave you at the altar. She feels safe in a book. At home. Which might be why she’s so set on going her annual book club retreat this year—she needs good friends, cheap wine, and grand romantic gestures—no matter what.

Story
Ali Morris is a professional organizer whose own life is a mess. Her mom died two years ago, then her husband left, and she hasn’t worn pants with a zipper in longer than she cares to remember. No one is more surprised than Ali when the first time she takes off her wedding ring and puts on pants with hardware—overalls count, right?—she meets someone. Or rather, her dog claims a man for her, in the same way he claimed his favorite of her three children: by peeing on him. Ethan smiles at Ali like her pants are just right—like he likes what he sees.

Publisher's summary
A GOOD MORNING AMERICA BOOK CLUB PICK
"This book has it all. Humor, heart, and a heroine I was desperately rooting for. Kirsty Greenwood has a new fan!”—Colleen Hoover, New York Times bestselling author
A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on earth before ten days are up…
If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, but now she’s standing in her ‘shine like a star’ nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.
As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is until someone comes running out of a door, yelling something about a huge mistake, and sends the dreamy stranger back down to earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.
When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind…
Critic reviews

Sometimes you’re so busy writing other people’s stories that you can lose the plot of your own. This wasn’t how Kelsey Worthington’s day was supposed to go. She wasn’t supposed to be picking up Starbucks for her smarmy boss. She wasn’t supposed to get hit by a car that jumped the curb. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to wake up in a hospital room next to Georgina Tate—the legendary matriarch of New York City businesswomen.

If we were looking at the whole picture, I was not a catch. Men didn't want someone difficult like me. They didn't have the patience or the will and I didn't blame them. A boring relationship with a guy that tolerated me was the best I could hope for. That was exactly who I'd been with for the past two years; a boyfriend that was kind of an asshole and barely acknowledged my existence. Then... he showed up. Two years and an ocean had separated us, but now he was back and it seemed like he was on a mission to pull me back into his orbit.

Isobel's life is small: just her, her mum, and her pet chinchilla, Abigail, in their council flat on the Kentish coast. After mental health troubles in her teens, Issy, now twenty-eight, has kept things that way on purpose, only deviating from routine when her part-time job at a paint-your-own pottery studio demands it, or when she's inspired to create art of Abigail: knitted Abigails, sculptural Abigails, delicately rendered paintings of Abigail. When the Abigails earn the attention of famous artist and reality TV star Elizabeth Staggs, Issy is awestruck and a little alarmed.

Rom Com fiction is not my normal genera of choice. With the state of world events as it is, I needed something light and fun to take me away. I am so glad I chose this book because it did just that!

So beautiful!
This book was such a surprise. It was charming, funny and it put things into perspective. The point of life is to have a life… lived. so much to see, so much to do and so much to feel. This audiobook played out like a movie in my mind and I’m so glad i stumbled upon it!

Enjoyed this book tremendously!
What a creative storyline! Loved all the characters and how just a small catalyst pushed a whole world of difference for each character! Loved the personal growth and sweet love story all the while giving the listener some pretty “meaty life themes” to chew on! I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to reading and hearing more from this author in the future! Kudos!

So Cute!
This was such a heartwarming read that I finished in only two days. I couldn’t put it down! The romance was amazing, as well as the tension, friendships, and our main character’s journey. I highly recommend the audiobook especially!
