Last year, I predicted that if the Infinix ZERO BOOK ULTRA got a dedicated GPU, it could become a really nice gaming laptop. Fast forward to today, and Infinix has finally done it. Instead of upgrading the Ultrabook, they launched an entirely new gaming laptop called the GT BOOK.
I have reviewed almost every laptop from Infinix, starting with the Infinix INBOOK Slim X1 in 2021 to the recently launched Infinix Y4 Max. Up until now, Infinix has focused on build quality, performance, and value for money for their mainstream laptops. But can we say the same about the GT BOOK? Let’s find out!

The INFINIX GT Book is available in three configurations, each tailored to different performance needs and budgets. The base model, the one in for review, features an Intel Core i5-12450H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU with 6GB GDDR6 VRAM. It includes a 16-inch FHD Anti-Glare display with 300 nits brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Weighing 1.99kg, it is portable and has a 70Wh battery. Key features include the GT Control Center, customizable RGB Mecha Bar, and 4-Zone RGB Keyboard. Also please note that the Rs 59,000 price for the base model is an introductory price and is subject to change. So for all intends and purposes, image the future price of this laptop to be under Rs 65,000, for the base model.
The mid-range model upgrades to an Intel Core i5-13600H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, retaining the same display, RAM, and storage. The high-end model boasts an Intel Core i9-13900H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM. It maintains the same display, RAM, and storage. All models include the GT Control Center and customizable RGB lighting, ensuring a versatile and immersive user experience.

Infinix GT BOOK Review: Design, Build Quality, Keyboard And I/O
First, let me show you the launch edition of the GT BOOK, which comes with accessories worth Rs 8,999 for a limited time only. You get these headphones, a gaming mouse, and an RGB mousepad. However, I find it hard to believe that these three accessories are worth Rs 8,999, but since they are free, it’s okay. If you’re thinking of buying this kit, do yourself a favour and buy all these items individually on Amazon instead.
Moving on to the laptop, at first sight, it looks quite portable. Infact, Infinix is claiming it to be the lightest 16-inch gaming laptop. At its thinnest point, the laptop measures just 18.9mm, which is very thin. For reference, two of the thinnest laptops in the Indian market are the GF63 Thin, which measures 22mm, and the Cyborg 15, which measures 22.9mm.
Despite being thin, the laptop is constructed with top-notch materials. The design is inspired by the “Cyber Mecha” aesthetic, which gives it a futuristic look with sleek lines and coloured game accent vents. You will find that the lid is made out of metal but the laptop’s deck area uses polycarbonate. Thankfully, you won’t find any flex on either of those places. The laptop features a metal base as well, providing a solid and premium feel. The laptop stands on rubberised feets and they too are big enough to allow easy downward air flow. To further prevent any unnecessary dust, the air vents are well equipped and they’re also painted in orange accents, which looks cool, I guess.
Not just that, but you will find “gamer-inspired” design language all over the laptop. The lid has a reflective piece on which the RGB light placed above the laptop’s protruding rear section bounces and creates a RGB illumination. Additionally, the W,A,S,D keys are especially highlighted on the keyboard, which by the way, also has customisable 4-zone RGB backlights. Overall, solid construction.
The INFINIX GT Book offers a comprehensive and well-thought-out port situation, catering to the diverse needs of gamers and power users. It features two USB A ports, one being USB 3.2 Gen 2 and the other USB 3.2 Gen 1, providing ample connectivity for various peripherals. The inclusion of a USB C (DP) port allows for versatile connectivity options, including connecting to external displays via DisplayPort functionality. Additionally, the HDMI 2.0 port is perfect for high-definition video output to external monitors or TVs, enhancing the gaming and multimedia experience.
For data transfer, the UHS-II SD card slot offers fast read and write speeds, ideal for photographers and content creators who frequently use SD cards. The headphone jack ensures that users can easily connect their headphones or external speakers for an immersive audio experience. In terms of wireless connectivity, the GT Book supports WiFi 6, ensuring fast and reliable internet connectivity, and Bluetooth v5.2 for seamless connection with wireless peripherals like headphones, mice, and keyboards.
The keyboard offers a full-scale layout, including dedicated performance mode keys for Office, Balance, and Game modes, which add convenience by enabling quick adjustments based on the user’s current needs. The presence of signature WASD game keys highlights its gaming focus, making it easier for gamers to navigate during intense sessions.
The key travel is well-balanced, providing a satisfying tactile response that enhances typing and gaming accuracy. Meanwhile, the trackpad on the GT Book is spacious and responsive. It is not too similar to what you’d find in the likes of HP Victus and Omen series, which is a great place to be.
Infinix GT BOOK Review: Screen And Speakers
The INFINIX GT Book features a 16-inch FHD 120Hz display, which stands out for its immersive and vibrant visual experience. The display boasts a 16:10 aspect ratio, offering more vertical space than traditional 16:9 screens, which is particularly beneficial for both gaming and productivity tasks. Moreover, the added anti-glare coating reduces reflections, which was really helpful while working in office environments with a lot of hanging lights.
With up to 300 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage, the FHD+ display delivers sharp details with great viewing angles as well. On the audio front, the INFINIX GT Book is equipped with dual speakers enhanced with DTS sound processing. The setup delivers a loud, crisp sound making this speaker system suitable enough for small rooms as well as noisy offices.
Infinix GT BOOK Review: Benchmarks, Battery Life And Gaming Performance
The Infinix GT BOOK’s base model, the one in for review, comes with an Intel Core i5-12450H CPU. Now, it is an older generation processor and it is kind of expected. Infinix, and mobile brands that venture into laptops space, often use a bit older CPUs to make their product highly competitive in terms of price. Don’t get me wrong, the 12450H is based on Intel 7, which is another way of saying that it uses a 10nm process node and employs the X86 hybrid architecture. Meaning, it splits the 8 physical cores into 4-performance and 4-efficiency cores.
The resulting real-world performance of this chip is good enough. For instance, the 12450H-powered Infinix GT BOOK achieves 9896 and 1590, in terms of Cinebench R23 Multicore and single core tests. Now, compare that to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H and you’ll see around 8978 in multicore tests. With this kind of performance you can do 1080p video editing, multitasking, and even data crunching and compiling easily.
The INFINIX GT Book is equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, which is not upgradeable. This amount of RAM is sufficient for most gaming and multitasking needs, at least for now. But an upgradable option in this form factor should be given. However, the LPDDR5 technology offers high clock speed and low power consumption. And since the SSD is a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, its sequential read and write speed also mirror the same, giving you 5077 and 3969 MB/s respectively. It is not towards the higher end of the PCIe Gen 4 but it is still good enough.
Now, the GPU on offer is the RTX 3050 6GB variant with 80W TGP and it performs very well compared to the older RTX 3050 4GB variant both in terms of total output and efficiency. For instance, it easily maintains 75-78W GPU wattage consumption, meaning it is running as expected, and is also similar to what the RTX 3050 4GB 95W TGP variant consumes. The result is 5849 in TimeSpy and 12814 in Firestrike, which translates to good 1080p gaming performance.
And speaking of 1080p gaming, the GT BOOK delivers solid 1080p gaming performance at both medium and high settings thanks to its higher VRAM.
The INFINIX GT Book delivers impressive gaming performance with high frame rates at both high and medium settings. At 1080p high settings, it runs games like Metro Exodus and Dirt 5 smoothly, with average frame rates of 55 FPS and 67 FPS. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Shadow of the Tomb Raider perform admirably, averaging 74 FPS and 81 FPS. At 1080p medium settings, performance improves further, with Gears of War 5 reaching 106 FPS and Dirt 5 averaging 89.2 FPS.
In comparison to the Dell G15, featuring Core i5-13th gen and RTX 3050 (6GB) and ASUS TUF Gaming F17, featuring i5-12500H and RTX 3050 (4GB) VRAM, the Infinix GT BOOK performs competitively.
In Metro Exodus at 1080p high settings, the GT Book slightly outperforms both competitors with an average of 55 FPS, compared to 53 FPS for the Dell G15 and 52 FPS for the ASUS TUF Gaming F17. In Dirt 5, the GT Book delivers 67 FPS, close to the Dell G15’s 69 FPS and better than the ASUS’s 65 FPS. The GT Book significantly outperforms both in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, achieving 74 FPS, while the Dell G15 reaches 69 FPS and the ASUS only 48 FPS.
For Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the GT Book matches the ASUS’s 81 FPS and is just behind the Dell G15’s 82 FPS. In Civilization VI, the GT Book leads with 81.58 FPS, surpassing the Dell G15’s 75 FPS and the ASUS’s 73 FPS. Finally, in Gears of War 5, the GT Book’s 86.5 FPS is slightly better than the ASUS’s 85 FPS and close to the Dell G15’s 91 FPS. Overall, the INFINIX GT Book lags in some titles but leads in others and overall delivers a solid performance for its price.
Infinix GT BOOK Review: Conclusion
With its Intel Core i5-12450H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, the base model provides a strong foundation for gaming and multitasking. The 16-inch FHD display, 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD ensure a smooth and immersive user experience. The laptop’s build quality combines durability with premiumness. The inclusion of a customizable RGB Mecha Bar and 4-Zone RGB keyboard further enhances its gaming appeal.
The GT Book’s port selection is comprehensive, catering to various connectivity needs with USB A, USB C, HDMI, and an SD card slot. The dual speakers with DTS sound processing and anti-glare display make it suitable for both entertainment and office use.
