Maybe the author sho2 Stars for The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business (audiobook) by Charles Duhigg read by Mike Chamberlain.
Maybe the author should have started with his own story instead of finishing with it. It was kind of a letdown to find out that this book was his own self help project that we ultimately paid for. His wife thought he was getting fat and he realized that he was in the habit of eating a cookie at work every day. So that’s why the stories feel random. The goal of this book was for the author to lose eight pounds and get out of the habit of eating a cookie every day. Some of the stories are interesting but others just let me scratching my head wondering what am I supposed to get from that. ...more
5 Stars for The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man: A Memoir by Paul Newman read by David Rosenthal foreword by Melissa Newman.
This biography was 5 Stars for The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man: A Memoir by Paul Newman read by David Rosenthal foreword by Melissa Newman.
This biography was pulled together from an early attempt by Paul Newman to try and set the record straight. In 1986 he had a close friend start talking an oral history of friends and family and then later Paul would give his side of the story. After a huge amount of conversations were recorded this project ended up getting abandoned and wasn’t rediscovered until well after his death.
This ends up being an interesting approach to a memoir, it’s as much about how his family and friends saw him as it’s how he saw himself. It was interesting for me to fill in all the details about his life that I didn’t know. ...more

I listened to this book right before Halloween and it ended up being more scary than the horror books that I chose for the holiday. The way her father trapped her in the conservatorship just seems unbelievable. And she was forced to go along with it to be able to see her children. The man is just evil. He made a ton of money and destroyed his family along the way. ...more
4 Stars for Clean: The New Science of Skin (audiobook) James Hamblin read by Barrett Leddy.
This is a really deep and thorough dive into the world of 4 Stars for Clean: The New Science of Skin (audiobook) James Hamblin read by Barrett Leddy.
This is a really deep and thorough dive into the world of skin care and overall health. I appreciate the dedication of the author, I was really interested in this topic when I heard that the author is a doctor and he started going without showering for his health. I’ve watched society for decades try and get cleaner and it seems like they are actually getting sicker. So many are allergic to everything and their immune systems can’t protect them. It was fascinating to me to hear someone actually quantify with real data what I was suspecting for a long time. But the problem seems to be much larger than I realize. So many industries are looking to treat these problems and they have no incentive to cure them. If my wife is reading this. Don’t worry, I still intend on shower daily. ...more
