The best way to receive a promotion, is by doing the next level job There is no better way to prove that you are worthy of more, if you can show in the first place that you are able to execute on that I would be proactive, ask for next level work, I will do it even if I have to work overtime, I will deliver successfully and on time, and only then I will face my boss with the facts and not with the wishes and desires. I have not yet seen someone who has tried this and failed, it simply works each and every time. You might need to be patient to get the actual promotion, but the most important part is that your superior will be fully convinced that you deserve one
