Changes are inevitable and in the filed of healthcare its crucial to be up to date, especially with technological advancements. Network, continue to grow and continue to learn.

Change is inevitable. Rather than resist it, take this as an opportunity to learn, grow and develop yourself which then can impact others. The biggest thing I have heard as a negative is the frequency and intensity that the change occurs. This creates a stressful environment due to the inability to fully understand and integrate that change ( so I am told) in order to tackle the next. I agree that change can be good and everyone should continue to take webinars and educate themselves ongoing. This can only help you improve and make you more desirable for higher positions should you desire to do so.

The Healthcare system is a revolving door of changes. New policies, new procedures, new laws, new perspectives. It is imperative that one prepares oneself for changes. To take on changes, one must be educated, knowledgeable and prepared. One must develop and evolve with the times and technology that embraces our healthcare systems. One must be equipped on all levels to be able to handle the challenges that come with the territory of case managing. It is a slippery slope when dealing with patient care. Healthcare workers must also have the support needed when embracing change.

Healthcare is growing and changing everyday, with the current healthcare staff shortages it can cause barriers for Case Managers ensuring that members have access to needed services. To be resilient in this ever changing environment look for opportunities in the day to day that provides collaboration and partnerships that can assist in securing the needed services for your members. Look for ways to improve processes within your organization, start a committee or workgroup where you can strategize the needs of your members and how to grow resources. You will find that engaging in the above not only helps your members, but also provides support and a way for you to engage with colleagues and improves your resiliency as well.

Let’s face facts; we learn something new every single day and sometimes without even knowing. Humans are curious; we want to stick our noses in things that make us tick to better ourselves and provide better care for people we support. Healthcare is forever changing; new technology, new research, new medications etc and it’s so important we remain up to date and “in the know” so we can continue to provide our clients with the very best practice. Even the most experienced of clinicians will not know everything and it is always a good idea to refresh learning and be curious about what is out there. To provide the very best care to our clients, we need to be the very best and that means we need to continually strive to be better.

I have found that in Case Management, it is essential to: 1. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices through ongoing education and professional development opportunities. 2. Networking with peers and attending conferences can provide valuable insights and help you stay ahead of the curve.

Continuous learning is something I look for with any company. The medical field evolves and changes daily and not only is it important to stay up to date as healthcare professionals but we owe it to those we serve. I n my opinion, every company that hires medical professionals should offer, require, and set time aside for every employees to complete learning activities or assignments at no cost specific to the company, field of work, and healthcare professional. There is not time during the work week to complete continuous learning unless it is set aside by the company and continuous learning ensures staff are knowledgeable about any changes and refreshed on important matters so they can provide the best care and practice for that company.

One thing I've actually found helpful is staying up to date on technology. Staying up to dat3 on technology has helped me greatly in my career.

Obtaining information both from the patient and caregiver will always be a top priority. However, depending on the situation, health literacy can limit the information provided about a medical event, previous treatments or procedures. Leveraging technology in accessing ED, hospital, primary or specialist care EHR is critical in completing the whole picture. Better access and sharing of clinical data for approved users across the healthcare continuum not only improves care coordination and care quality but also patient safety. It's well known that shared data between healthcare providers can reduce redundant procedures and tests. For case managers, it is a vital tool to promote more efficient delivery of services and support.

We live in a very techy world. Everything is online, everything is in the palm of your hand on your mobile device. We can now make GP appointments online, we have virtual platforms for accessing professionals and we see a huge range of assistive aids and devices that have empowered people lives whether this is from a watch reminding you to take your tablets to a device aiding a paralysed person to walk again. A.I. is up and coming and will one day be a huge part of everyone’s lives. We need to remain “in the know” and embrace the technology we have access to.

There are so many amazing professionals in the industry who all want the same thing; to provide the very best care for our clients. Ensuring we have an effective multidisciplinary team involved in a clients care is essential to ensure our clients meet their rehabilitation goals and they make the very best possible recovery. Be encouraged to attend open evenings, conferences and training events to connect with professionals within your field.

Networking is key to grow our professional, personal and over all relationships. Attend trainings, seminars and workshops. Volunteer with local agencies or national ones as well. If you are shy or an introvert. You can join and participate in online events as well. Being open to building and growing are key elements to flourish in your professional and personal goals.

This is especially important when policy makers need to be reminded how their decision affects patient care outcome. It is this partnership and unity that allows an amplified voice from the community that yields stronger results towards postive change or influence even the toughest policy makers.

With years of experience serving diverse populations, it’s evident that a patient-centered approach not only enhances the quality of care but also contributes significantly to the overall well-being of the people they serve. Being patient-centered means being aware of and respectful of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients. This sensitivity can lead to more culturally appropriate care, which is essential in building trust and ensuring effective communication. By focusing on the patient’s specific circumstances and goals, case managers can develop more effective care plans.

It is important to remember that our clients remain our main priority and remain in the centre of everything we do. A person centred approach ensures that client receive holistic, bespoke care that is tailored to their needs. It is important to remember everyone is different and we need to ensure clients feel respected and listened to. Some of our clients we care for have life changing injuries and we need to remember they are a person like me and you. Listen to your client, I can’t stress that enough. Even if your client is refusing support you feel is best for them, take some time to understand why they feel the way they do. Listen to what they want and ask them what they want moving forward. This is so important.

This is another example of continuous learning in my opinion. As a Healthcare professional, I personally believe companies should provide access to, time for, and require “continuous learning “ including company policies and procedures to every employee. There is simply not enough time to complete your job requirements as it is which is why companies should give employees at least 1 days every quarter to complete and/review policies, procedures, and other continuous learning activities directly related to their role, field of practice, and company. This ensures employees are knowledgeable about changes and any new information that impacts their work allowing the best care to be provided and in turn the company’s reviews improve!

Policy significantly impacts the environment, latitude of services, and outcome of patients interventions to name a few. The healthcare landscape has rapid change and this creates a ripple effect especially in the technology we use and how we use it.

Optimism and willing to learn, grow and improve are important in all aspects of our lives. I've been in this field over 25 years, every time I meet someone with skills, ideas and or talents that I don't have. I reach out, I ask, being open to learn from others will change your perspective exponentially. Value who you are as well, mentor others, to teach is to learn twice.

Change is part of nursing along with education and changes in case management.The Case Manager has to be ready at any time for changes because it is working with government.

One thing I found helpful with Case Management SUD/MH is to educate yourself with the county or surrounding counties assistance programs and keep a book on these resources. Build relationships with these resource /contacts. This helps when you have a client in need that your county is not able to provide assistance with or have available resources you can reach out for assistance to help your client. Sadly there has been an overwhelming need and county resources lack funds or availability to help assist clients.
