You're aiming to expand your B2B marketing network. How can temporary work help you achieve that goal?
In the competitive world of B2B marketing, expanding your network is crucial for success. One strategy that can significantly aid in this expansion is leveraging temporary work. By engaging with temporary professionals, businesses can tap into a wealth of new contacts, skills, and opportunities. Temporary workers often come with their own professional networks, which can open doors to potential clients and partners that may have been previously inaccessible. Moreover, these temporary assignments can lead to lasting relationships that continue to benefit your business long after the initial contract has ended.

On any key B2B project I'd recommend bringing in one external, temporary B2B Marketing expert to your internal project team. My experience shows that in many companies it's either applying B2C Marketing strategies right away for B2B which is often not the best approach or strategy or it's an approach of "we have always done it this way". B2B-centered start-ups I'd generally exclude from the later observation though. In any of the two cases, an external B2B Marketing expert will very probably give you the asset of background from B2B Marketing strategies at other companies, question your BAU approach with fresh eyes and usually bring in additional energy boosting the productivity of your internal project team.
Temporary workers can fill skill gaps in your marketing team without the long-term commitment of hiring a full-time employee. This is particularly useful when you need specialized skills for specific campaigns or projects. By addressing these gaps, you can execute more sophisticated and effective marketing strategies, which can enhance your reputation and attract other businesses to your network.

Apart from enabling you to temporarily bring in a specific B2B Marketing skillsets and know-how, an external expert will also give you the asset of having the background from B2B Marketing strategies at other companies, evaluate your BAU approach with fresh eyes and usually bring in additional energy boosting the productivity of your internal project team.
Hiring temporary workers is often more cost-effective than bringing on full-time staff, especially for short-term projects. This cost savings can be redirected into other areas of your B2B marketing strategy, such as attending industry events or investing in new marketing technologies. By optimizing your budget in this way, you can expand your network without overstretching your resources.

Temporary hiring translates into strategic financial flexibility, allowing you to channel funds into amplifying your B2B marketing reach rather than sustaining long-term payroll. This approach not only conserves resources but also enables you to invest in high-impact marketing activities like industry conferences and cutting-edge technologies, effectively broadening your network while maintaining a lean budget framework.

I have recently been asked why I am very passionate about B2B Marketing, with much of the fancy and attention tracking things going on rather in the B2C space. My answer to this question was, that very often a B2C sale is like a one-off. While in the B2B Marketing field my experience shows that if your customers are satisfied with your product or service, very often it will lead to establishing long-term relationships going beyond just one initial sale. - Of course as a Marketeer also thinking of options for recurring services here or add-ons. As a temporary expert on a company's project team I feel the same, if both sides are successfull and satisfied with the outcome, a long-term relationship will be the best outcome.

In my last temporary project for a key client in the market, defining a B2B Marketing strategy to enter a new customer segment with an existing B2C service, hence making it a B2B2C service, the fit was perfect and I got directly hired by the company for a permanent role. Therefore I strongly suggest to everyone looking for a career change, re-engaging in a career or just looking for new opportunities in the market to also consider temporary projects.
