In order to avoid exhaustion, as a late-career game developer, I prioritize tasks and delegate when I can. I use my experience to streamline workflows and take advantage of flexible work hours and remote work options. I can enjoy a fulfilling career while also making time for family, hobbies, and self-care by being organized and setting boundaries.

**I am not a late-career game developer** However, I can share my little experience in this industry. 1. Focus on your ideation capabilities. Tools can be learned by so many people, but the best ideas come from a few of them. 2. Play at least 1 game per day. And if only one, that one must be from the same genre and platform you will target. 3. At least build one social media that is primarily focused on game development. It will help you stay updated with trending news on game development which will keep up your motivation. This is how you can do it: For LinkedIn, Follow pages dedicated to game development updates. Follow the developers, designers, and artists. For YouTube, just searching "Indie Game Devlogs" will do the rest.

Discipline, set out tasks no matter how small. Public transport is a great time to do this. Divide it by working time. Work during working time. Obstacles is an opportunity to move on you can always come around. I can think of massive amount of road blocks I solved elsewhere. Circled back and destroyed the target. Everyone needs a break. It will be hard but refrain from working on your project for me its the weekend. During that time think about your project all you want just don't do any work can keep notes but no actual work. Should have a daily task list of things to do that day work through them. I try to set things out by time between meals. This one is sort of psycho but limit your social interactions (say hi by whats up but keep working). Anything you miss push it onto tomorrow and get some sleep.

You should never reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to. Project templates, assets, and plugins can shorten your project timeline by months or even years!

The new hot thing is the best thing regardless of how people feel about it. If it can cut your workload or let you do the work of 10people embrace it. Atm my prediction is The company that can leverage AI is going to be phenomenal. With absolutely no competitors. AI brings costs down all around. Even if you don't understand something have a general idea of how it works. Think how would you explain this thing to grandma. If you have a route your on the right track with new tech.

Learning new skills, and new software, and keeping up and staying updated with the new industry technology of game development, will keep you in the race even if you are not actively developing games and releasing titles. The Skills and Learnings you acquire will help you to build experiences and games steadily. Don't be afraid to build small games, like Snake game, Tetris, Sudoku, etc.. these games will give you a perspective on how to start and complete a game concept. I have seen many game developers trying to establish and develop a big first title and failed. It's not important to go big, but is to go far.

Audiobooks. Dont understand a thing find an audiobook on it or read the book. Either way trying is the best way forward. Trying to learn will always give you an edge on the topic.

If you are working for a client or your company, focus on incorporating one visual objective and one background objective. What I mean by that is; there are two types of tasks, one that don't take as much time but are a huge upgrade to game visuals, the second one takes time while not being a huge upgrade to visuals but still a necessary component for gameplay. So you should make a to-do list for both tasks separately, and alternate between them, that way you won't be burdened by your employer's expectations and he/she'll be happy to see progress as well. Let's be honest for a layman programming the backend of a character doesn't mean anything the only thing they see is a humanly model moving about, so keep their perspective in mind.

If your properly handling and tackling problems with your scheduling. Shouldnt hit massive crunches. All of my crunch times came because I had to wait for work from a colleague. I made it clear that if you were on a schedule this wouldn't happen going forward. While some will embrace working at work others will not. You can also plan for other peoples laziness. Keep notes before the next project mention it. But either way Plan your day. You should have tasks from yesterday that need to be done start with those.

Even if you are capable of performing a duty outside your core discipline and it feels easy or fun, it is still a chunk of your time being used. As much as you can, be "in the know" of core responsibilities of each person across all teams. It's also useful to know who specializes in specific work, as they will likely be able to accomplish those tasks faster. It is a good thing to be able to offload work outside your base purview to others. It's more efficient, as those outlier tasks are now being done in tandem with your core responsibilities, rather than "one after the other."

There are so many options here for software to track management. my favourite would have to be Miro. Pics videos notes...big ass arrows! This will hit both sides of your brain it is fun to schedule.
