You want to advance your career, but you don't know how to talk to your boss about it. What's the best way?

Be transparent about wanting a path of growth and evolution. Be prepared to have the ability to self reflect on what you need to do to become what the business is looking for in terms of requirements and leadership. Be a student of the game.

I'll suggest start hinting this in your quarterly or mid-year review; very critical! So that when you review with your boss, you can provide more details and get some feedbacks if that's the right part or so for you.

Go in prepared by doing your research. Be clear on what it is you are trying to accomplish. Bring results of what you have done and why you deserve to climb the corporate ladder. Stay respectful and never argue, always discuss. If he doesn't see your value then you are at the wrong place and they don't deserve you.

I find that lots of people want to advance quickly without putting in the work. A roadmap needs to be created between you and your boss and you need to have an end goal. What matters is what you do in between the time of creating the roadmap and hitting that end goal. Lead with your actions not with your words. Hit small targets that in turn will help you approach big targets. Track wins, get feedback on losses and present your progress on those losses during your quarterly’s. Most importantly, TAKE FEEDBACK and action it.

You need to express your feelings, you must learn to say yes or no. Always think twice before saying that, all will comes to your path, what ever you where looking for. Don't loose hope keep going. And stay positive

Always be honest about your aspirations and how you believe your growth can benefit the organization. Asking for feedback from your boss on areas where you can improve and what steps you can take to advance in your career is also extremely crucial. Showing your willingness to learn and grow will demonstrate your commitment to your professional development.

I have always found that if you feel you are not being paid enough, think about why? Prepare yourself, and before you approach your manager, think about the questions they may ask you. They will have a list of reasons why not to increase your salary, so be prepared to state your case. Secondly, always keep a log of all you do, as quite often your workload broadens, but the salary doesn't. Be open and honest, and ask for a meeting to discuss your role, and salary. However, the key thing is that you always feel valued and appreciated for the work that you do. A simple thank you goes a long way! If you don't feel valued, never mind the salary...you need to speak up or change jobs!

The Ceo / Boss have hectic task and its difficult to manage the tasks so while taking with boss, be sincere and respectful in all manners.

Your behavior should be very similar to the first time you applied for your current job."

One good way to progress in your career is to plan your career path for five years and seek your manager or supervisor's advice on what needs to be done to get there. Based on your own learnings, suggestions from your manager/mentor and create a road map. Do something every day related to your career progress and review it weekly, monthly and quarterly. Make changes in your map if required.

Understanding that negotiation often entails compromise, it's essential to identify and emphasize your key arguments, enabling you to leverage them effectively at critical moments."

Prove your value to the company by making it hard to replace you. While everyone is replaceable, make it so that it would be challenging to hire, train, etc. another employee to work in your role. Do this and show that you care about your role and the company, and make it necessary to promote you/increase your salary rather than having them have to start over with a new hire.

I’ve heard it said that your boss’s boss is the one who truly determines whether your career advances. Work to build a relationship with both your boss, and your boss’s boss that adds value. Try to think like they do. What keeps them up at night? What problems do they need to solve and what needs to happen to achieve the needed results? As you start thinking through the lens of what is important to them, start adding value in every way you can. Take on the jobs that others don’t want because they’re not fun or seem likely to fail, but are a factor in advancing the objectives and goals of your supervisors.

My personal opinion is that if you don’t feel you can go to your boss about this, then maybe you’re not working for the right boss/company. A good company/boss is approachable and ensures its people feel valued and enables them to approach, grow, and flourish.

Sometimes people get comfortable, they don't want you to progress. The feedback is not actionable or demeaning. You Must advocate for yourself. Drive to produce, seek outside council/mentoring and start putting yourself out there. Know your worth and be intensional about your growth. Go get it!

Based on my years of work experience and management observations, any employee can be replaced. However, having made significant positive gains and contributions to organisational growth,employees can choose an appropriate avenue to communicate his/her intent to improve his/her career.
