Be cautious when networking, don't blindly reveal personal information to people that could compromise your personal details. Furthermore, if people are reaching out to connect ask them why they are looking to connect. I typically don't accept invites from people with no information on their profile. I am also sceptical of accepting connections from people I don't know with less than a few hundred connections. Most people can build 1-200 connections with people they already know very easily so they don't need to reach out to strangers. particularly here on LinkedIn. Also if you connect you can see how long they have been a member for.
