This July marks the first anniversary of the hottest day on record, and now we're coming together to take action with 350's first Giving Day. We work around the world today and every day to defeat the fossil fuel industry and empower communities to reclaim their futures with fair, affordable renewable energy. That's why this week, we launched REPower Afrika, a massive effort to replace pipeline projects with community-owned renewables — meanwhile in other parts of the world like Europe, we're holding billionaires accountable to fund the energy transition. Help us keep this and other exciting, urgent work going and combat climate change for future generations by donating right now on #GivingDay, when your gift can go three times as far thanks to a generous TRIPLE match if we hit our goal of $60,000. We're an international movement of ordinary people working to end the fossil fuel era and build a better future for all.
About us
350.org works on grassroots campaigns across the globe, leveraging people power — individuals working together in pursuit of a common goal — to dismantle the influence and infrastructure of the fossil fuel industry and to power up clean systems rooted in justice. To build a more sustainable and just future, we collaborate with communities at the frontline of the climate crisis, those who have historically contributed the least emissions but are feeling the worst effects. We campaign and organise to show the world we really want, in pursuit of energy justice and distributed renewable energy solutions that will move us away from fossil fuels, for good. Over the past 15 years, we have mobilised with people around the world to confront injustice and challenge our fossil-fuelled economic systems. Together, we have achieved extraordinary things, from getting millions of people onto the streets worldwide, to moving trillions of dollars away from the fossil fuel industry, to stopping dirty coal, oil and fossil gas plants and pipelines. We take on ambitious fights – and we often win!

Climate anxieties—and global temperatures—are on the rise. But is it realistic to hold all nations to the same carbon-cutting standards? On Doha Debates Podcast, Zaki Mamdoo and Rahul Tongia debate this very question and discuss how the world might strike a balance between energy development and meeting urgent climate goals. ➡️ Watch now: https://lnkd.in/e4i44aRQ

Whilst Microsoft likes to give the impression that it is committed to sustainability, over the past seven years, it has announced dozens of new deals with oil and gas producers and oil field services companies. 🤔 For years, employees at Microsoft worked internally to push for limits on the company’s work with the fossil fuel industry. However, they were met with nothing short of gaslighting and greenwashing from the tech giant. For the first time, they’re telling their stories from the inside. On Earth Day, we shared the news that our cofounder and long-time Executive Director May Boeve is ready to move on from her role, though not without seeing us settled with a visionary new leader first! May speaks to this moment in her own words, and you can hear her share more of her story and her hopes and excitement for what’s to come. We know May has been a well loved partner to many in the global community, and that she will be missed. If you’d like to share some words of thanks for May’s many years of service, please send her a note here👇 https://lnkd.in/e4U3Z4M7

Earth Day has a different theme every year, but the fundamental purpose of this day is always the same: it’s a moment to celebrate our planet, our communities, and the incredible climate movement that strives every single day to foster connection and build a cleaner, safer, more equitable future. For all of us at 350.org it’s also a chance to celebrate our cofounder and Executive Director May Boeve, who today announces her decision to step down and usher in new leadership for 350.org. 350’s roots are in community, and in convening people power to fight the fossil fuel industry, the number one threat to our Earth and our families. We grew up resisting the Keystone XL pipeline and other major fossil fuel projects, and that’s still where many of our staff, and our network around the world, put their energies. But even as the fight to keep fossil fuels in the ground continues, the world is hungry for safe, fair renewable energy. We’re proud to bring what we’ve learned in fighting fossil fuels to the struggle to move the money for energy transition, and to support real climate solutions that are feasible and fair. This is an exciting, challenging moment for the climate movement, a chance to balance both the fight against fossil fuels and the scaling up of renewable energy. We can’t wait to welcome a new leader with fresh vision and a global perspective to help us make the most of this opportunity. If that’s you, our doors are officially open and we’d love to hear from you. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gQtK5gVz
