In our #ChampionsAdvice update, Kelsi Scarlett, University of Arkansas School of Law class of 2024 graduate, recalls the guidance she received before her 1L year: “The best advice I received prior to starting law school was to understand that it’s not as easy as undergrad may have been,” shared Kelsi. “It’s hard work and you need to actually read for class and do the homework, but it’s not that hard to do and it really helps prepare you for class.” Congratulations on your law school graduation Kelsi! In this week’s #SummerofChampions, Elaine Montgomery, Northern Illinois University College of Law class of 2024 graduate, fills us in on her summer plans! “I finally graduated from law school! The last three years have been the most difficult but rewarding years of my life," wrote Elaine. After taking some time to celebrate following graduation, Elaine has been gearing up to take the UBE in Arizona this month, using Helix UBE and the Helix MBE supplement in her prep. “In order to maximize my time, I will not be working during the months of studying, which I am very fortunate to be able to do,” Elaine shared. “After taking the bar exam, I will be doing some traveling, and taking some long naps. I am excited to take on the last hurdle of this journey before becoming an attorney!” Congratulations, Elaine, on your law school graduation and all the best on the upcoming bar exam! https://ow.ly/hWOn50SBMBo

Most #lawschools emphasize LSAT score and final undergraduate GPA heavily in their admission decisions when reviewing applicants, however, these measurements yield performance gaps that lead to disparate admission outcomes by race and ethnicity. Our new report compares the predictive power of undergraduate GPA growth to that of final undergraduate GPA and LSAT scores in law school admissions.
