Gene Rodrigues (@department of ENERGY) and Hon. Carleton Simpson (New Hampshire) had a discussion with industry leaders John Bozzella (Alliance for Automotive Innovation), Kim Greene (Georgia Power Company), Teresa Ho Kim (J.P. Morgan), and Brianne Miller (Microsoft). They talked about strategies to tackle the increasing demand for #electricity, focusing on AI data centers, #electricvehicle charging, and new rate structures. Additionally, they touched upon how federal government decisions impact their organizations from a business and consumer perspective. #NARUCSUMMER24

Everyone knows today’s vehicles are like a computer on wheels. And like a computer, access to #4G and #5G wireless networks is required for enhanced functionality. In a vehicle that means things like advanced safety and driver convenience features. But... there’s a major roadblock to vehicle #innovation in this area of connectivity. What? Licenses to technologies covered by standard essential #patents necessary for network connections *in vehicles.* Seriously. We break it all down... and what Congress and the courts can do about it... in Law360. https://lnkd.in/eEgW7WCK

Your pre-July 4 #electricvehicle data dump from Alliance for Automotive Innovation’s latest #GetConnected report… Here are the Q1 2024 headlines: 9.3 percent of new U.S. light-duty vehicle sales were #EVs. Total sales (all powertrains) increased 4.2 percent. This is interesting… market share of internal combustion engine vehicles contracted 4.6 percent. 113 electric models available for sale in U.S. But only 22 #EV models – 19 percent – are eligible for all or part of the federal 30D EV tax credit. I’m still concerned about lagging charging #infrastructure → 344,533 EVs were registered in Q1 but only 7,247 new public chargers came online. That’s 48 new EVs for every new public port. We’re gonna need more… Q1 2024 Get Connected EV Report → https://bit.ly/3RQVV1W (Sign-up to receive Get Connected EV reports here → https://bit.ly/3LR480T)
