We are committed to creating a just, free, and equitable society for all.
About us
Alliance for Justice is a national association of over 120 organizations, representing a broad array of groups committed to progressive values and the creation of an equitable, just, and free society. Since 1979, AFJ has been the leader in advocating for a fair and independent justice system, preserving access to the courts, and empowering others to stand up and fight for their causes. The two pillars of Alliance for Justice are our Justice Program, focusing on ensuring our nation’s courts protect our critical constitutional rights and legal protections, and our Bolder Advocacy Program, focusing on building advocacy capacity for nonprofits and the foundations that fund them.

Join the Alliance for Justice on Tuesday, July 9 at 3pm ET as Ian Millhiser, a Senior Correspondent at Vox and expert on the Supreme Court and Constitution, for a Supreme Court term wrap-up, where he will expound on specific case decisions and their ramifications. Formerly a Senior Constitutional Policy Analyst for the Center for American Progress and clerk at the United States Court of Appeals, Ian Millhiser has dedicated his life to analyzing the affairs of the judiciary, and his wealth of knowledge provides a nuanced, invaluable perspective on the Supreme Court. Alliance for Justice President Rakim H.D. Brooks will join Ian Millhiser for a conversation on the decisions handed down by the Supreme Court this term and the potential consequences of these decisions. This past year, the Supreme Court has heard cases capable of fundamentally altering the nature of American democracy as we know it. Since its inception, the nation's highest court has had the power to change the landscape of self-agency and scope of governance, with little oversight. In recent years, due in large part to a predominance of conservative, originalist interpretations of the Constitution, the decisions of the Supreme Court have curtailed or even annulled previous Court holdings that protected many of the civil liberties held dear by so many. This year offers little respite from this trend, with Court rulings on gerrymandering, abortion, free speech, and presidential immunity. The Supreme Court has the potential to uproot the Chevron deference, restrict emergency abortion care access, and more. Make sure to mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 9 so that you can take part in this increasingly crucial conversation in AFJ’s upcoming Holding Court. StreamYard webinars do not have automatic captioning, but the event will be streamed on LinkedIn, which does have captions. The event will be recorded.
