Advancing Evidence. Improving Lives.
About us
Since 1946, the American Institutes for Research (AIR) has been advancing evidence to evolve systems, improve lives, and ultimately create a better, more equitable world. We are a nonprofit research and technical assistance institution working to solve some of the most urgent challenges in the U.S. and around the world. Our experts in education, health, workforce, human services, and international development follow the evidence to find and apply solutions that will work. Our work helps policymakers make important decisions based on evidence, and we work with leaders, organizations, and communities to create more effective programs. We never stop digging to find what works and where we have more to learn.

"I understand what it's like to have multiple identities, and how that affects one's experience of different facets of life." Jaspal B.'s experiences growing up in Georgia opened his eyes to the ways that identity can affect our experiences with #justice, #education, #voting, #healthcare, and more. Now, he leads the #PublicSafety and Policing grant portfolio and supports educational #equity work with the AIR Equity Initiative. In our latest Meet the Expert, Bhatia discusses common misconceptions about our justice system, goals for the Equity Initiative's justice portfolio, and how creating access to education, health care, and meaningful jobs can do more for public safety than heightened police presence and incarceration. https://lnkd.in/gPEe8A_Z

What is the relationship between #education and #ClimateChange? A group of researchers, activists, donors, and policymakers including AIR's Jessie Pinchoff, have come together to outline a new research agenda that aims to protect children's education in the face of a deepening climate crisis. The agenda focuses on the effects of climate change on students' learning and well being, and proposes increasing the evidence base around the use of education as a powerful tool for climate action.
