Turning the spotlight on our #Fulbright creatives! These talented artists are already making strides in the creative world. Hear directly from them about their artistic journeys, what storytelling means to them, and the impact Fulbright has had on their visions for the future: Sadeq, from the #UAE, on his responsibilities as a Fulbright student: “As I continue to develop my thesis film and engage with the community in Baltimore, I recognize that my responsibilities as a Fulbrighter transcend the realm of filmmaking. My role involves forging connections across cultures, communities, and individuals. Through film and personal interactions, I am not narrating stories; I am facilitating understanding and fostering meaningful dialogues.” Omar, from #Libya, on creating connections between humans and their surroundings: “I believe that architecture should be the bridge that links individuals with their surrounding environment, serving as an active facilitator in our exploration and appreciation of the world. Buildings should be living entities that converse with us, revealing layers of meaning, offering inspiration, and even answering back when questioned.” Dina, from #Egypt, on what inspired her final project: “As I rode the New York subway, navigating the city, I found myself surrounded by towering billboards showcasing beaming faces. These images seemed to suggest that I was lacking something essential to be as happy as those depicted.” Sara, from #Jordan, on breaking into the creative industry: “For future Art and Design Fulbrighters, the creative industry can be highly competitive. However, through constant research, a thirst for learning, and the determination to add your personal touch, you can excel. Patience is the key. When I started the program, I had a background in architecture and no knowledge of coding or animation. Despite this, I can now create my own simple video games and animated films. Don’t be afraid to let the process challenge you — keep asking questions and pushing your boundaries!” #ExchangeOurWorld Amideast/Egypt Amideast/UAE Amideast/Jordan Fulbright Program for the Middle East and North Africa #ExchangeOurWorld

"I see myself as a peace steward and cultural ambassador for humanity, dedicated to uniting people. It all began at 15, when I decided to learn English with Amideast, and then in 2010, during my exchange year with the YES program. Living in Kansas, I quickly learned how human connections break down misconceptions about where we come from. This inspired my mission. I dreamed of traveling across the U.S. on a Greyhound bus, engaging with people everywhere. Through these interactions, I discovered that many people don't communicate with each other; if we sat down and had conversations about our shared experiences, we could break down misconceptions and move toward peace and understanding. Voyaj emerged from my efforts to connect people in a heartfelt way, using technology as a tool to facilitate cross-cultural exchanges. While my early twenties brought many proud moments—like bringing together kids from across the African continent to the United States on a Voyaj Experience, or collaborating with The World Bank Group to bring 100s of women entrepreneurs together across the MENA region, or on a more personal level, receiving my U.S. Green Card Extraordinary Ability category after 12 years of hard work —the true excitement now in my 30s lies in inspiring and onboarding more global communities to embrace Voyaj's mission and enabling thousands, even millions, to go on their own voyages. Whether it's someone from Lebanon staying with a family in the U.S. for an authentic exchange or people overcoming misconceptions about places like Morocco, the impact is profound. Through my exchange experience, I've witnessed younger generations' natural curiosity and readiness to engage with the world. As people age, maintaining this curiosity becomes challenging, but studying abroad early on can sustain it. It really changes your mind. It keeps that openness to other cultures and belief systems alive. So it’s all about going beyond the touristic experience. How do you get people to ask themselves: What's this person's story? How are they living? By 2034, I see Voyaj uniting millions worldwide, fostering human connections that bridge cultural divides and promote global peace. It’s bold, but it’s my dream. Despite the challenges I encountered over the past decade, belief in this mission for humanity has kept me going. "Reach for the stars and land on the moon,” they say. Personally, I aim even higher—I dream of going to the moon one day. Because why not? So believe in yourself, respond to ‘no’ with ‘why not,’ and surround yourself with people who believe in you. That’s the wisdom I live by, and that’s the heart of Voyaj."
