  • Gia and Dave are part of our Weymouth family, and are the subject of this weeks student spotlight! This dynamic duo started their Arthur Murray journey in preparation for their wedding, but found that they had gained more than they expected out of their lessons. When asked about this, Dave says that dancing has "improved his balance and how his body moves better." He appreciates this because he feels he walks and moves more intentionally and more loosely at the same time (Love that!). Gia says she is " appreciative of learning how to be a good "follower" and how to better respond to Dave's cues. Communication comes in many forms!" Watching relationships flourish through dance is one of our favorite parts of this 'job', and life in the studio is so much more fun because of couples like Dave and Gia! Even when asked who they would share their last dance with, obviously these two said each other! Always a pleasure having you guys around, thanks for being a part of the Arthur Murray family!! #dance #benefitsofdance #socialdance #funfitness #hearthealthy #mindbodyconnection

  • "As they say, I caught the dancing bug and find myself wanting to learn more and more." We always love an 'unexpected love story' from one of our students. Joe came in on a whim to his first lesson, and discovered it was something that he really loved! No ulterior motive, just a thought and the ability to DIVE IN- to something he had no prior connection to. He does say that him and his mom are both big fans of Dancing with the Stars, so it would be nice for them to share that dance!  Apart from the surprise love for dance, Joe says what many of our new students say- that it has alleviated a lot of day to day stress that is present in our modern, busy lives. Having that next dance or move to look forward to is something he loves!  As far as the actual dance journey goes, Joe has leaned to "not overthink it and to be patient with yourself. Trust the process and the moves will come with time." We love this. The journey is the destination, folks!  Joe, thanks for being a part of the family. We love having you around!! #dance #benefitsofdance #socialdance #funfitness #hearthealthy #mindbodyconnection

  • "It’s bringing more joy and artistic expression into my life!" Leila has been with us for a little while now, and the joy she brings to the studio is only matched by the joy that she gets out of dancing! Always loving the music at the studio, Leila is a blast to have around, and the perfect candidate for this weeks student spotlight!  Having danced ballet as a child, she says "I discovered that ballet steps and positions from my ballet years in my childhood are helpful in ballroom dancing. There is such a thing as body memory and a skill from long ago is never wasted." So cool! And we would whole heartily agree! Movement is such a healthy part of life, and having something that gets your heart pumping, WHILE having fun, is what we preach! "I needed some kind of exercise and sheer athleticism, and the health club felt lifeless and boring. Ballroom Dancing was a great discovery for me!" Always one to take advantage of dance experiences around here, she never misses an event! "The great thing about the studio is when you’re taking private lessons you can also go to the group classes so you can experience other instructors as well. The showcase events are motivating and give you a fun goal to work towards. It's also a great social experience. I always feel happy after dance lessons!" Thanks for being such a positive force in the studio, Leila!!  #dance #benefitsofdance #socialdance #funfitness #hearthealthy #mindbodyconnection

  • Ever hear the saying 'Confidence is key'? Well, many of our students will tell you that through their dance journey, this was one area in their life that saw a drastic improvement! Kaitlin and Connor are no different. They say that their time in the studio has given them a boost of confidence, on and off the dance floor! "I'm really appreciative of the confidence I gained in dance. I remember our first performance at newsome twosome, I was so nervous to perform, but with the help of Connor and the staff and other students I felt so supported!" says Kaitlin.  Being law students, their day-to-day routines can be stressful, so each week they are thrilled to be able to let loose, have some fun and be creative in the studio with us. And trust us, we've noticed their energy!! "With the encouragement of the teachers, we've built the confidence to try new styles and develop new goals. We truly look forward to our time in the studio each week!" Sharing this dance journey together, the pair have said they enjoy the creative outlet, but have credited the lessons to growing closer! "...every time we dance together, we just have a great time and feel more connected than ever!" We seriously love hearing things like this from our students. As we always say, the journey is the destination! Thanks for being a part of our big, fun dance family guys!! #experience #learning #students #teaching

  • "If you and your partner are having a good time, you're doing it right. It's easy to get caught up trying to remember all the steps and little details. Don't let trying to get it "right" stop you from enjoying the fun." The👏Journey👏Is👏The👏Destination👏 We say this all the time, and when we have students like Alan and Sydney, who just GET IT, we literally jump for joy! We couldn't think of a better couple than this duo for this weeks Student Spotlight!  Alan signed them up for their first lesson, unbeknownst to Sydney, for a fun date night activity and to get them ready for their upcoming wedding. "...he knew I would have refused to go if he'd told me ahead of time. I'm so grateful he did." These two are a delight to have in the studio- the way they connect with each other and their fellow dancers is magical. Which is what Sydney says she gets out of the studio experience, too. "The best and most unexpected things I've experienced through dance are joy and unexpected daring. I never expected to enjoy dancing. It's more playful and unserious than I imagined. There's magic in it." We couldn't agree more! Thanks for being part of the family!! #experience #learning #students #teaching
