Millions of people across the sprawling #Houston metropolitan area remained without power—with no reprieve in sight—after #HurricaneBeryl walloped Southeast #Texas with flooding rain, punishing winds, and climbing temperatures. The elderly and the sick were especially vulnerable in the sweltering summer heat, and without access to off-grid #electricity options, were left to their own devices. As storms like this intensify in scale and frequency, we must be equipping everyday Americans with independent #energy options. #AuroraSolar https://wapo.st/4bHjEsl

Class in session, here's your lesson! 📚 Today we're talking inverters. We all know that solar panels produce #electricity in direct current (DC)—basically electricity flowing in one direction. The problem is, homes and businesses run on alternating current (AC), which is electricity reversing directions many times per second. But a solar power inverter runs direct current (DC) through two or more resistors that switch off and on many times per second to feed a two-sided transformer, creating alternating current (AC) usable in homes for electronics, appliances, and more. The more you know! 🌈☀️🧠 #AuroraSolar https://bit.ly/49MVHz1

First introduced in 1989, Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC) panels are modified silicon cells that have an additional layer on the back. Because this extra layer is reflective, it is able to send unused light back across the n-type and p-type junctions to generate more #energy. Better still, this reflective surface also helps to reduce rear recombination and prevent longer wavelengths from becoming heat that would otherwise impair the cell’s performance. Have you worked with PERC #panels before? Let us know in the comments. #AuroraSolar https://bit.ly/3JPEnPv

It's hot out. 🥵 Over the weekend, a blistering West Coast heat wave toppled all-time record high temperatures in #Nevada, setting daily records in dozens of surrounding cities. And forecasters warn of more record #heat throughout the week. The burning of #fossilfuels is a major contributor to human-caused #climatechange. When we burn fossil fuels, we create #greenhousegases that trap heat from the sun and keep the planet's surface and atmosphere warm. This can make heat waves longer, more intense, and more frequent. And furthermore, this can necessitate greater use of cooling solutions like #airconditioning, which contributes to the cycle of #energy use that burns even more fossil fuels. We can't stress this more: with a global transition to clean, #renewable energy, we can simultaneously support a growing #workforce, help everyday folks stay safe and cool during these heat waves, and stop feeding the energy-use cycles that have warmed our planet so much in the first place. #AuroraSolar

Sunshine on a solar panel stimulates the flow of electrons in a single direction, creating direct current, or DC. An inverter converts DC energy into alternating current, or AC, energy so that electricity can be used in the home or sent back to the grid. And while all solar panels are technically DC panels—they all produce a flow of electrons in one direction—some DC solar panels have built-in #microinverters that can produce AC electricity. Understanding the basics of—and differences between—AC and DC is essential to empowering your customer with the right intel they'll need to invest in an array. We break it down further at the link. 🔗 #AuroraSolar #HelioScope https://bit.ly/3OUj95K

Clean, renewable energy is as American as apple pie. After all, nothing says independence like the #freedom to choose your energy source, to alleviate your monthly bills, and to divest from dirty #fuels that pollute our #environment and impact our collective health. This Fourth of July, we're proud to support our local #solar economy, its workforce, and the everyday homeowners it empowers. #AuroraSolar

As you build a relationship with a prospect, identifying their unique solar pain points will help you tailor your pitch as effectively as possible. Every #sales conversation is different, but a great foundation focuses on simple questions about a prospect's past solar experiences, current hesitations, and expectations for the future. With a bit of empathy and a lot of listening, your prospect will feel far more confident in choosing you as their installer. #AuroraSolar https://bit.ly/48vs3O7
