We had a great turnout at our Government Review Council (GRC) meeting this week. CEO and Editor of SJV Water Lois Henry updated us on current farming conditions, the Kern River lawsuit and the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Here are some key points: ✔️ Small farms are struggling to afford the rising water usage costs caused by high temperatures. ✔️ Bring Back the Kern appealed to the Supreme Court of California to compel the City of Bakersfield to increase the water flow in the Kern River. ✔️ SGMA aims to regulate and protect groundwater resources in Kern County.
