Healthy, happy employees, patients and visitors on the south side are priority at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital! That’s why this summer, employees and leadership celebrated the opening and official marking with signage of their beautiful 1.12-mile walking trail! Employees, administrators and physicians came together for their inaugural “Blaze the Trail” walk. Hospital leaders said the trail, which circles around the hospital grounds, is intended to encourage employees to move before, during and after a workday. For the community, walking the trail is great medicine. It can help elevate mood and enhance mental well-being toward total body health. The trail begins at the front of the hospital at 3333 Research Plaza with signs that mark every 1/4th mile. As #ACommunityBuiltonCare, Mission Trail Baptist Hospital invites and encourages everyone to use and enjoy the trail every chance they get! #BaptisthealthSA #ACommunityBuiltonCare #bettertogether #MissionTrailBaptistHospitalSA #BlazetheTrail #WalkingisthebestMedicine #FollowMetoBaptist

Northeast Baptist Hospital is excited to announce the completion of the first non-thermal ablation using a new pulsed field ablation (PFA) method for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). The new approach may minimize risks associated with traditional thermal ablation, potentially expanding access to AF ablation treatment to more patients. During a traditional ablation procedure, a catheter is guided to the interior of the heart and generates extreme temperatures – hot or cold – to destroy targeted areas in the heart associated with abnormal heart rhythms. The non-thermal ablation option however, relies on tissue selective, non-thermal electric fields to ablate heart tissue and avoid damage to surrounding structures, reducing surgery time by up to an hour. This reduction is crucial as it minimizes patient exposure to anesthesia, lowers the risk of complications and expedites recovery. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of irregular heartbeat and can decrease the heart’s pumping efficiency, leading to clot formation. People with AF have a higher risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications than those with normal heart rhythms. Symptoms of AF include fluttering heart beat, dizziness, fatigue and shortness of breath. If you have any of these symptoms, seek medical care.
