About us
The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation is a philanthropy founded to help transform lives and communities by uniting people across differences to find common cause. Started in 1995 by Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot, the foundation has granted more than $1 billion to charitable causes. Our collective giving areas are Atlanta’s Westside, Democracy, Environment, Mental Health and Well-Being, and Youth Development. Across these areas, we take on tough challenges by uniting the courage and compassion of our communities so we can all thrive together. The Foundation invests in education, parks and greenspace, youth development, community redevelopment, and the arts, and leads giving programs for each of the Blank Family of Businesses, including the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, PGA TOUR Superstore, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, and West Creek Ranch.

We offer our immense thanks to the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation for supporting a powerful mix of strategic planning and connection with The Carter Center’s mental health program and our partners in Georgia and Montana. Together, at the beautiful West Creek Ranch, we outlined strategies for how to advance access to mental health care and strengthen national policies. #mentalhealth #healthcare

The cover story in SSIR’s summer issue, “Where Strategic Philanthropy Went Wrong” by Mark Kramer and Steve Phillips, has generated lively discussion across the philanthropic sector, including right here on LinkedIn. Jodi Nelson, Ph.D. and Fay Twersky of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation respond with a defense of strategic philanthropy and explain that how Kramer and Phillips describe the practice is unrecognizable to them. #philanthropy #impact

🏈 President Fay Twersky's annual letter explores the surprising similarities between football and the world of giving. From "moving the ball down the field" in #affordablehousing to "calling an audible" during grantee gatherings, sports analogies have become a powerful tool in our philanthropic playbook at the foundation. Curious about what these two fields have in common? Read Fay’s letter to discover how the principles of football can apply to philanthropy and how this unique perspective might broaden our approach to creating social impact: https://lnkd.in/eY4wi5eR Atlanta Falcons; Terry Fontenot

👩🏾⚖️What's the best way to ensure our nation has strong, effective lawmakers? Educate them, measure their progress and hold them accountable. The Center for Effective Lawmaking creates scorecards for federal lawmakers that quantify their ability to break through the gridlock in Congress and move policies through the legislative process. "The results of the scorecards will benefit the public who deserve to know how well their elected officials collaborate and legislate," says Wendy Feliz, managing director of Democracy at the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. Learn about lawmakers and accountability: https://lnkd.in/er_xM5S5

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl's devastating impact across Latin America and the Caribbean, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is responding swiftly to communities in crisis. CRS provides critical support through its EMPOWER program (Empowering Partner Organizations Working in Emergency Responses). EMPOWER's approach combines on-site assessments with immediate relief funding, ensuring targeted and timely aid. We support CRS's EMPOWER program, which is already addressing the urgent needs of Hurricane Beryl survivors. This collaboration enhances CRS's ability to respond to disasters swiftly, providing critical assistance to communities when they need it most. Children's hospitals can be intimidating places, but visual art has the power to transform these hospitals' halls, treatment rooms and public areas into engaging, uplifting spaces that inspire joy and hope. 🎨 That's the idea behind RxART, a #nonprofit organization that commissions contemporary artists to create public installations designed to comfort and heal - at no cost to the hospitals. Discover the healing power of art: https://lnkd.in/emnWyFuY
NEWLY INSTALLED 🎉 We are proud to announce the completion of RxART’s largest project to date ✨This 407-foot mural by #SharaHughes covers more than 53,000 square feet of Phoenix Children's in vibrant colors and imaginative designs 🌳🌲🌈🌼 This project is a direct response to a request that was made over five years ago during a patient advisory council meeting when of the council’s young members asked the hospital to “make that hallway less scary.” The installation achieves this goal and more through Shara’s fanciful landscapes, transposed onto medically approved wall material and made to last for Phoenix Children’s patient, family, and caregiver community.
