"The co-op is for the people," says Broad River Electric member, Jay McCraw. "You don't feel ownership at larger power companies. With a co-op, you're always informed and always feel like you're an owner." As part of the statewide "I Love My Co-op" campaign, we've had the pleasure of hearing what Broad River Electric means to our members. Like McCraw says, being a part of a co-op means you're just as much an owner of the co-op as our board members and your neighbors. Co-ops are special because it's more than just transactional power distribution - we're also here to listen to you and provide support beyond just making sure the lights come on when you flip the switch. We're fortunate to serve our members and have loved hearing your appreciation in return! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/evgdMTk6

We're proud to share that we earned a 2023 Customer Satisfaction Award* from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI®) based on our member survey results! Members were asked to rate their overall satisfaction with us, how well we lived up to their expectations, and how well we measured up to their ideal co-op experience. Broad River Electric's ACSI score substantially outperforms the industry average score earned by publicly measured utilities reported in the 2023 ACSI Energy Utility Study. This Award is a testament to our team’s ongoing efforts to provide the best possible member experience. The 2023 Customer Satisfaction Award affirms that our members have noticed our hard work, and we're immensely grateful for the talented team at Broad River Electric and their dedication to our members. *Award criteria are determined by the ACSI® and are based on customers rating their satisfaction in a survey independent of the syndicated ACSI Energy Utility Study. On March 25, 1940, farmers and merchants from Cherokee, Union, and Spartanburg counties gathered at the Cherokee County Courthouse with a vision: to finally gain access to electricity in their rural communities. Guided by county agents and the Rural Electrification Administration, a member-owned electric cooperative was formed. Broad River Electric Cooperative was incorporated in June of 1940. By October of the following year, new co-op lines were energized by a substation on Pacolet Highway in Cherokee County, extending service into rural areas of Union and Spartanburg Counties. From humble beginnings to a vast network of 2,750 miles of power lines and over 21,200 members, Broad River Electric Cooperative is a testament to community collaboration and forward-thinking leadership. Here’s to the legacy of power and progress! ⚡️ Read more about our story here: https://lnkd.in/eSzjRXTf

"I am grateful for the generosity in assisting the B.D. Lee Elementary School PE Program. To ensure a successful field day, the school used grant money to procure various supplies, including eggs and spoons for relay races, sponges for relay races, bands for three-legged races, sacks for sack relays, balloons for balloon relays, and throw and catch balls with rainbow tails," said Bradlee Cooper, B.D. Lee PE Coach. Whether it's in the classroom or out on the field, the Bright Ideas Grant dollars are being put to great use in our local Gaffney schools, and we're proud to help support our wonderful teachers and students!
