People don’t understand the value of web3 until they understand the value of ownership. Web2 moved us from an ownership economy to a rental economy. You used to own a record label. Now you steam a song. You used to own a book. Now you listen to a podcast. This transition has brought down costs significantly, which is awesome as a consumer. But something is lost in this transition - people like to own things. When you own something, it FEELS different. It can become part of your identity. And when it is part of your identity, a new dynamic is unlocked. Web3 and web3 gaming will deepen and unlock new forms of fan engagement because it will enable fans to own parts of the stories they care about. Candy is already doing this with DC comics and MLB. Gaming is the next unlock.
