One of CareHerd’s founders and team members is a cancer survivor. During his treatment, one of the things he and his family struggled with was coordinating care and communicating their needs. Like many of you, they had no shortage of friends and family willing to help and lend a hand. However, enlisting them just felt like more work. Work neither he nor his wife had the energy or bandwidth for. So they did what so many do. Rolled up their sleeves and took a bulk of it on themselves. When our teammate went into remission and we better understood his struggles, we thought: there has to be a better way to build and collaborate with a care team. We also thought: most of us have gone through or are going through the same thing. Whether you’re an individual struggling with a health issue, a primary caregiver for a loved one, or a friend or family member who wants to contribute more to the care of a loved one, asking for and giving help should be easy and effective. We sought to answer the question our teammate posed: how can we remove the overwhelming hurdles in communication, scheduling, organization, and research that limit the quality of care those in need of it actually receive? How can we better organize health data, learn about health issues, and share information across a dedicated, compassionate caregiving team? The CareHerd app was born from this question and was our answer to helping other individuals and families connect through care to create a better, more impactful experience. It has since expanded into the foundational platform we use to power other apps (our own and for clients) for the same purpose. Since its development, CareHerd has made a difference in the lives of those who use it. And we’re committed to continually improving it, because the road to health and quality care is a journey that does not need to be traveled alone.
