Blooming together! 🌼 Community partners cultivate access to healthy food while gaining knowledge through a new garden in Danville. 🍅👩🌾 Students in Project Success of Vermilion County tend to the garden during the summer and also do afterschool work when they are not attending Danville High School, Southview Upper Elementary School or North Ridge Middle School in Danville. CRIS Rural Mass Transit District in Danville provides transportation for students working in the garden. Located across the street from the Carle Medical Office Center at the Riverfront, the community garden includes strawberries, watermelons, chives, pumpkins, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, cherry trees, pear trees and several types of flowers growing. “For Carle, the community garden is one way to come together with others in the community and make lasting impressions of good health not only today, but also for the future,” Timothy Meneely, DO, medical director, Carle Medical Office Center at The Riverfront, said.

Carle Health is excited to introduce a brand-new fitness space to the Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) for Carle Health Greater Peoria patients at Carle Health Proctor Hospital. “Fitness plays such an important part in recovery,” Robert Lizer, DO, Medical Director of the ARC, said. “When people are at their low and struggling with addiction, physical well-being is an integral part of the recovery process. It helps with positive neurobiological development and promotes healthy living physically, mentally and spiritually.” In attendance at the grand opening last week was the primary donor, Sheryl, and her dog – Fletcher – whose loyalty and sweetness, she says, was the main inspiration behind her desire to support the project. 🐕🦺😊 Story: https://lnkd.in/gTW7zQJN
