I have been reading the biography of the Cincinnati Observatory's founder, Ormsby Macknight Mitchel, written by his son in 1887. There is a wealth of beautiful and interesting passages and I thought I would share some from time to time. This one is from a letter from Dr. Johann von Lamont of Bavaria in response to Mitchel's successful procurement of funds from the citizens of Cincinnati for the purchase of a world-class telescope.

In addition to viewing the exhibit, attendees were treated to solar viewing, 3D printing, and ozobots, as well as asked to provide words of advice/encouragement to the next generation of STEM women. What advice/encouragement do you have to offer to women entering a STEM field? #womeninstem #stemcareers #stem

Happy #MentorMonday! Today we're excited to highlight Cincinnati Observatory! Since 2021, we have partnered with the Cincinnati Observatory and, during their time involved, their mentors have impacted 150+ 3rd and 7th grade students at Sayler Park School and Shroder Paideia High School. At their monthly visits, Cincinnati Observatory mentors have introduced students to a variety of careers and topics in S.T.E.M-- relating them back to outer space! Natalia Tooley, Outreach Educator at Cincinnati Observatory said, "Our partnership with Adopt a Class has been a huge asset for us here at the Observatory because it has strengthened our relationship to schools in our community! Adopt A Class has been persistent in finding new ways to connect us with students and teachers, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with them." A huge thank you to the Cincinnati Observatory for their continued support and involvement in our program. We are so very grateful for this partnership and can't wait for this upcoming school year! #cincinnati #space #STEM #community
