From Medical Center Health System: Posted @withregram • @mchodessa Medical Center Health System, the @cityofodessa and Ector County officials began laying the groundwork today for expanded Fire & EMS services throughout Ector County at a special, joint meeting. MCH and the City of Odessa entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, while the City of Odessa and Ector County did the same, all agreeing to work together on bringing expanded Fire & EMS services to the entire county. In the proposed agreement, which would need voter approval., MCH would take over the collection and appropriation of funding for Fire & EMS in the county, while the City will continue to manage those services. As part of the agreement, MCH has agreed to fund future expansion of Fire & EMS services in areas that are currently underserved and/or long distances from healthcare facilities. For more information on what the plan entails for each entity, how the funds will be collected and appropriated, and how it will affect Ector County residents, please visit the link below: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gH-YxmhJ The Ector County Hospital District Board of Directors will vote at their next scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, August 6, whether or not to approve putting this issue up for vote on the November ballot.

Serving Beyond the Badge    Jonathan Campbell was an Odessa Police Officer for twelve years. During his time at OPD, he worked as a detective. He tells us that seeing those cases made him realize there was a need for private security in the Permian Basin.    That's when Jonathan took a chance and became a Signal Security franchise owner. He says his passion behind the career change was noticing that most private security in the area was oil field-focused, not residential.    “I still wanted to serve the community. Our focus is on apartments, homeowner associations, and commercial businesses,” Jonathan shared.    Jonathan tells us that shortly after he left OPD, he was diagnosed with colon cancer, which brought his new business venture to a halt.    “Thankfully, I didn’t have to undergo chemo or treatments. It was stage one; I had surgery to have it removed,” Jonathan said.    Now, Jonathan is in remission and is looking forward to continuing to serve our community. Aside from his work protecting the basin, Jonathan is also appointed as the Ector County Precinct 4 Constable.    📱(432)-888-0743    ✅BrighterFuture #OdessaProud

From Garage to Glamour: The Rise of Meek Designs Sarah and Tim Meek are born and raised Odessans. The pair tell us that their business, 'Meek Designs,' started when Tim was in college studying computer science in 2019. At the time, it was a 3D printing company that quickly blossomed into an event rental business. The couple tells us Tim is the brains behind the operation. With his background in computer science, he created custom software that makes Meek Designs stand out. “With our software and lighting system, it allows us to sync up colors and effects that match the theme of whatever event,” Tim shared. Sarah, who is a lash technician full-time, handles customer relations and social media for Meek Designs. She tells us it was her clientele that got the word out about the shining marquees. “We started doing my clients' parties, and then word got around. Now, we get to be a part of people's family parties and help them make memories,” Sarah shared. The Meek family has been running their business from their garage, storage sheds, and spare bedrooms for the last six years. However, the demand has outgrown their home. The small business owners tell us they have big plans for the future of Meek Designs! 📱(432)-202-8807 ✅BrighterFuture #OdessaProud

A year ago, we introduced you to Josh White, an Odessa Fire Rescue paramedic who had been diagnosed with cancer. Josh had a rare type of cancer called Appendiceal Cancer. Over the last year, he has traveled back and forth to MD Anderson in Houston for appointments. Today, Josh is in remission! Although it was one of the most challenging years of his life, one of his greatest blessings also came in the last year. “My wife and I welcomed our third child, Hudson, back in April. I have been back to work for awhile and I am really just excited to continue serving our community,” Josh shared. Josh and his wife Kayla say they are forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this journey. ✅BrighterFuture #OdessaProud
