Nearly 4,000 people work for the City, providing vital services to the residents of Mesa. Employees enjoy competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including a defined-benefit retirement plan, paid vacation, sick and holiday time off, health/dental/vision/life/commuter insurance and a no-cost Wellness Center. Do you know the history of the City you live or work in? Let's take a look back at our history. With about 300 residents, the village of Mesa City, as we were known then, was officially incorporated on July 15, 1883! That year, Alexander Findlay Macdonald became Mesa's first mayor, and the adobe building below was our first City Hall. Now at over 500,000 residents, our city has progressed into a vibrant place to live, work and play. If you've visited our downtown area recently, you'll see that work continues on our new City Council chambers. Once completed, it will provide a new gathering space for the community to come together to help shape our city's future. #MesaAZ #ArizonaHistory
