We were honored to host the American Public Works Association (APWA) quarterly luncheon yesterday at Volunteer Park. The APWA holds quarterly luncheons around South Florida, inviting all city public works departments to join. Our Plantation Public Works department had the pleasure of hosting over 150 attendees and enjoyed meaningful connections, engaging conversations, and great food. We also unveiled our new Public Works Mobile Command Workshop! This versatile unit is designed to engage with residents at events through kids’ crafts and homeowner workshops. Additionally, it will serve as an internal emergency hub when needed. We had a wonderful time hosting St. Gregory School students last Friday! A group of 6th graders learned from our Councilmembers Denise Horland and Louis Reinstein about the role of the City Council and interacted with Plantation’s police, fire and procurement departments. Councilmembers guided the students through the process of the City Council meeting, while our guests were listening, providing testimony, and voting on the proposed project. We were impressed by the students’ arguments and discussion as they took on the roles of the City Council, environmental group members and the neighboring residents. Well done!
