Our interns took a field trip to New York, where they visited the Uber NYC HQ. The experience began with a tour of Uber's impressive offices, showcasing their engineering, innovation, and meeting spaces. This provided a glimpse into Uber's dynamic work environment and their commitment to fostering innovation and teamwork. Our group then had the privilege of meeting with several representatives, who imparted valuable insights into Uber's technological advancements and the skills and experiences they seek in new hires. A massive thank you to Software Engineering Boost Fellow Christina Cephus for sharing your inspiring 10-year journey to tech, Site Program Manager Kendra Lojano for facilitating our day, Maxine Rivers for arranging the site visit, and everyone at Uber for hosting us and giving our students an unforgettable learning experience. Your support is instrumental in shaping the future leaders of tech. #CodedByKids #Uber #TechEducation #FutureTechLeaders #YouthDevelopment #EquityInTech

Earlier this week, our interns took a field trip to the SEI campus where they had the chance to learn from another one of our valuable industry partners. From meeting with SEI’s senior execs, to learning about the company's history, and touring their data center and art collection, our interns had a full and meaningful day. A standout moment was learning about SEI's innovative use of AI in their operations. We are immensely grateful to SEI for their ongoing support and for offering such an enriching experience to our interns. Thank you, SEI, for fostering the next generation of tech leaders! #CodedByKids #CBKinternship #TechInternship #EquityInTech #PhillyTech

Today, our college and high school interns went on their first site visit of the summer to our local tech partner Infinite Blue. The visit began with a tour of the offices, where students learned about Infinite Blue’s founding history and gained insights into the team and their operations. Following the tour, our students engaged in a problem ideation session, exploring the journey from initial ideas to the essential elements that drive the success of a product, such as effective marketing and sales strategy. The day concluded with students forming teams to design their own startup concepts focused on education, culminating in a friendly competition. Not only does Infinite Blue support #CodedByKids by mentoring our students, but they have once again chosen CBK for their #Juneteenth fundraiser! We love seeing local tech companies support our mission to improve the future of our youth through tech entrepreneurship. A huge thank you to Infinite Blue for a truly inspirational day and for continuing your support of our organization!
