Meet Tom Jones, manager of Quality Assurance – Travel Portfolio for Costco IT Travel. “Pride Month is a time to recognize and celebrate inclusion for everyone. It’s all about celebration, acknowledgement and fun! It’s the perfect opportunity to unapologetically celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community and have conversations about your journey. It’s a time to reflect on those who paved the way for the LGBTQ communty.” Who has had the biggest influence on your life? “My biggest influence is one of my closest friends. I met him in Texas, and he and his family now live here in Washington. He was the first person I came out to, and he was awesome about it. It’s a scary thing to do. He has always encouraged me to be me, even to this day. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him and his family.” Tom joined Costco in March 1999. He wanted a fresh start somewhere other than Texas, so he picked Seattle and contacted a recruiter. “Within a week I was flown out to Costco for an interview and they offered me the job. It’s a good company with good values, so I moved and have been here for 25 years. Costco continues to be a great place to work. From my first day, everyone was welcoming, friendly and open-minded.
