A Note from Annie Jackson, CEO and Co-Founder, Credo Beauty:     Igniting a clean beauty revolution sure makes time fly. I blinked and a decade has gone by since we started Credo Beauty.  I vividly remember the day, 10 years ago, when my eyes were opened to ingredients “deemed acceptable” in conventional beauty products. My mind was blown.  I felt totally duped and disappointed.  I thought, like many of you, “someone” was looking out for us.  Damn, was I wrong. Back then, I thought the only choice for the customer demanding transparency and good-for-you ingredients was to get a PhD in chemistry and a hazmat suit to shop for beauty….    or we could start Credo Beauty.  And here we are.       We are here because of you, our amazing friends and followers supporting us and being the best bad ass group of cheerleaders we’ve ever had.  Thank you.         You understood why it was so important to have a Dirty Ingredient List, you loved our Sustainable Packing Guidelines, and boy, how do you love recycling beauty products.  You've helped us divert a whopping 240,000 lbs of plastic from landfills!  Now, that’s a lot of mascara tubes.  You didn’t cause a fuss when we got rid of single use plastic and sampling, something pervasive in conventional beauty….and in the landfill.        We see you and thank you for being a conscious consumer.        Guess what? We’re not just here to try to save our planet. We’re on a mission to bring you the most cutting-edge beauty. We’re pushing Congress to pass more UV filter options from European and Korean sunscreen formulas into the US market. Our goal is to give you results that'll make you do a happy dance in the mirror, because looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand (and yes, of course it has to be vetted by The Credo Clean Standard).           Thank you for being an active part of our community.    You are why we are here.       Talk soon,   Annie

The demand for better sunscreens in the US is growing, and it's a pressing public health issue. Last week, Credo Beauty had the honor of addressing Congress during dsm-firmenich annual Safer Under the Sun event. It was incredible to hear from so many industry experts rallying behind the push for UV filter innovation. A big thank you to Carl D'Ruiz for the invitation! I presented "The Need for Safer UV Filters: Opportunities for Innovation" on the expert panel, sharing key insights from the Safer Made report on chemical innovation and also highlighted modern toxicology methods to validate new UV filter safety. Co-founder and CEO of Credo Beauty, Annie Jackson, delivered a powerful talk on "Advancing UV Filters: Insights from the Retail Sector" where she shared Credo's perspective on the critical need for effective and inclusive SPF options. Credo was proud to present in Washington DC, because we know firsthand that with the right legislation, we can unlock groundbreaking chemistries and pave the way from safer sun protection for everyone.

Register for A4's next webinar "Safer Chemistry in Beauty & Personal Care: Needs and Opportunities" taking place on June 6 at 1:00 PM ET! Every day, the average person uses multiple personal care and beauty products, each containing dozens of ingredients. These products are a significant source of exposure to chemical substances, some of which are associated with an array of health effects. Since at least 2000, consumer demand has helped the “clean beauty” market steadily grow. Product formulators and brands have benefited from the use of hazard assessment tools to vet the relative safety of potential ingredients as well as upcoming & coming alternatives. Yet challenges remain. Last year, VC firm Safer Made issued its report, The Need for Safer Chemistry in Beauty: Opportunities for Innovation, which outlines 16 product and ingredient classes, such as preservatives, sunscreen agents and packaging materials, where safer alternatives are needed. Join this A4 webinar to learn more about the report’s findings, hear reactions from leaders in the industry, and ask questions about opportunities for furthering safer chemistry innovation in the personal care and beauty product sector. Celebrating our Earth, today and every day. Built on the pillars of care and curiosity, we have defined what that means to us for over a decade through our Credo Clean Standard ™. Since we started in 2014, we have been taking the time to ask questions, seeking transparency about what's in the products we carry and how they are sourced. Our milestones on packaging are some of the leading requirements in the industry – in 2021 we eliminated single-use items followed by reducing the use of virgin plastic and non-recyclable materials through our Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. Pact, the beauty packing collection non-profit we co-founded, continues to grow. There are now over 2,500 drop off bins locations in North America which has resulted in over 239k pounds of hard-to-recycle packaging diverted from landfills. This is great progress for us, our brands, and our environment, but there is so much more to do. Stay tuned for what Credo Beauty has in store for 2024 and beyond. https://lnkd.in/g4rJEhyH
