Up on the roof! The anchor points on the roofs of the buildings at the Environmental Restoration Disposal Facility (ERDF) at the Hanford Site passed their biannual inspection earlier this week. Giovanni D. Midili, MS, CIH, CSP, Corporate Health & Safety Manager for VNS Federal Services (VNSFS), inspected the 12 anchor points on the administration building and the equipment maintenance buildings for signs of wear, rust, corrosion and tightness. “All of them were good to go,” Midili said. ERDF team members regularly attach fall protection lanyards to the anchor points when doing maintenance and repair on the roof. The points must be able to support at least 5,000 pounds. VNSFS and CTI, through their U.S. Small Business Administration-approved joint venture, CTI-VNSFS Environmental, LLC (CVE), operate the ERDF and the Integrated Disposal Facility (IDF) for Central Plateau Cleanup Company.

Our people work outside on a regular basis, and steps are in place to keep them safe. Read the full article on the CVE website: https://lnkd.in/g2yP23as

Our people are accomplishing great things!
World of Coal Ash 2024 Last month, CTI's CCR team attended WOCA 2024, learned from many fantastic presentations, and enjoyed catching up with clients, colleagues, and industry leaders in Grand Rapids. We have lots of exciting things ahead in the World of Coal Ash. My presentation was titled Spillway Abandonment for CCR Site Closure – Techniques and Challenges. I enjoyed sharing Lessons Learned from the abandonment of nine spillways completed at three CCR sites over the last three years. Abandonment Details discussed included bulkhead design, grout mix design, staging and volumes, use of tremie pipes, and safety procedures. #WOCA24
