Providing Justice and Restoring Hope
About us
The mission of Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the most severe cases of child abuse in our community. Last year DCAC served over 7,300 children (and their non-offending family members) who were sexually abused, severely physically abused, or who had witnessed a violent crime. DCAC provides a warm, child-friendly environment to help children who are referred by law enforcement or CPS. Our average client is a 9-year-old girl, sexually abused by someone she knows and trusts.

Dallas Children's Advocacy Center reposted this
Today, the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center undertook the filming of an updated version of the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training videos. This endeavor holds significant importance as it aims to enhance awareness and prevention of child abuse within our communities and schools. I take pride in being part of this initiative, committed to equipping ourselves with the knowledge to identify potential signs of child abuse and to take decisive steps towards reporting it.

As National Forensic Interviewer Week comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to highlight a few of our Forensic Service Team's recent accomplishments. ❤️ The Forensic Services team is currently a finalist for the Nonprofit Team of the Year for D CEO's 2024 Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards. ❤️ In May, DCAC hosted a Spanish-language Forensic Interviewing Peer Review. Bilingual interviewers from Children’s Advocacy Center of North Texas, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, and Alliance for Children met to discuss best practices when interviewing children in Spanish. This session allowed DCAC’s interviewers to receive feedback on interviewing techniques and to discuss linguistics and the latest research in the field of forensic interviewing. ❤️ Last year, the DCAC Forensic Services team conducted 1,897 forensic interviews to aid children and families in their journey toward justice and healing. Thank you, DCAC Forensic Service Team, for always showing up for our children and families! Your heart for this work and commitment to providing the best services possible to each of our clients make an incredible impact! We are thankful for you this week and every week! #dallascac #dcac #cactx #forensicinterview #forensicinterviewer

Happy National Swimming Pool Day! As the temperature rises this summer, more and more people turn to swimming pools to beat the heat. Tragically, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death to children in the country. Here are a few tips to make sure your day at the pool is safe and fun: ☀️ Make sure children are actively supervised when in or around any body of water ☀️ Make sure you are always within arm’s reach of any child who cannot swim to assist if necessary ☀️ Remain present and aware the entire time children are in or around water ☀️ Ensure that all beginners, low-skill, and non-swimmers have a US Coast Guard-approved life jacket in any body of water ☀️ Select bright-colored swimwear to increase your child’s visibility while swimming ☀️Enroll your children in swim lessons Thank you to @Academy Sports + Outdoors for donating 250 life jackets for our clients. We are grateful for your commitment to keeping children safe this summer! #dallascac #dcac #cactx #summersafety #swimmingpool #swimsafety #summer
