Keep up the hard work, K.H. from Region 7 (Shreveport)! 👏 Before joining our 318 Re-Entry Program, which assists recently incarcerated men and women in reintegrating into society, K.H. faced significant challenges, including struggles with substance use and repeated incarceration. After their release from prison in 2023, they joined our 318 Re-entry Program, confronting obstacles like lacking proper identification, support, and permanent employment. Despite these hurdles, they maintained a positive and hopeful outlook. Within six months, they obtained valid identification and secured a job at Super One Foods, a business that supports formerly incarcerated individuals. K.H. has been employed for about three months and is on track for a management position. They currently reside in a sober living home and have remained sober since their release. K.H. credits their success to a change in mindset, stating, "I had to change the way that I think, and this has helped me. This is my first time staying sober this long.". Having successfully completed the 318 Re-entry Program, K.H. expressed, "Not being in the program is scary a little bit, but I can now stand on my own by looking at the important things in life. Without the help from everyone, I don't believe I would have stayed out this long without the extra push." With the support and guidance of the 318 Re-entry Program, K.H. demonstrated motivation and commitment to their improvement and reintegration into society. Their journey is a testament to resilience and the power of positive change with a helping hand. #DisabilityPride #SuccessStory #Resilience #ReEntryProgram #ESLCommunity #ADA34 #ADAAnniversary

Introducing Mr. Murray for Disability Pride Month!🌟 Mr. Murray entered Region 7 (Shreveport) 318 Exit: Re-entry Program in March of 2024 after serving his sentence at Franklin Parish Detention Center. This program assists recently incarcerated men and women in reintegrating into society by providing support with employment, housing, mental health, and more. Despite his anxiety about the stigmatization from his past, he faced the world with understandable apprehension. Upon his release, Mr. Murray connected with an ESL Case Manager to help with his transition. Initially, he struggled to acclimate to a world that had changed since he last knew it. His resilience, determination, and drive helped him find a job as a room attendant at a local hotel in Shreveport. His dedication and hard work quickly caught the attention of his superiors, earning him the title of Employee of the Month within just three months of his employment. Mr. Murray's story exemplifies the impact of ESL's support in empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve personal and professional success. During Disability Pride Month, we celebrate his achievements and the resilience of all individuals on similar journeys. #DisabilityPride #EastersealsLouisiana #Easterseals #NewBeginnings #Reintegration #ADA34 #ADAAnniversary

Maria's Joyful Connection with AJ 🌟 🤼 Region 6 (Alexandria) Support Coordinator AJ's passion for his work brings laughter and smiles to those he serves. AJ is a lifelong professional wrestling fan and has made an impactful connection with his participant, Maria, because of this hobby. Since they began working together in March 2024, their bond has grown over their mutual fandom. AJ once brought a real Wrestling Championship Title to Maria's house, and she was thrilled, saying, “I thought he was going to bring a toy belt. I guess I was wrong. I am so flattered and excited to hold that World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Title. It was one of the best things that could have happened to me.” AJ's dedication to creating cherished memories for individuals with developmental disabilities exemplifies the spirit of Disability Pride Month. His efforts highlight the importance of making meaningful connections and bringing joy to others' lives. #DisabilityPride #InclusionMatters #EastersealsLouisiana #WrestlingFans #CreatingMemories
