Security integrators are becoming aware of new threats to their correctional facility clients: drones dropping contraband. Legacy perimeter intrusion detection systems have gaps, so integrators are rethinking security frameworks and opting to include comprehensive airspace threat detection. Anna Kim, Echodyne’s Regional Sales Manager for the US and Latam, penned a piece on the topic for Security Sales & Integration in order to help security integrators better understand which sensors help detect against drones and dark drones and how to futureproof perimeter instruction detection systems. Due to the nature of defense, we can’t always share where our radar is used and who is using it. Today, we are excited to be able to shout about a project Echodyne has been tapped to support with NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) to help with NATO’s testing of its first-ever counter-drone doctrine. In the recent Ramstein Legacy drill exercise, participating units were able to get familiar with technology spanning electronic warfare equipment, radars, and command-and-control systems through practical exercises and hands-on training. “The focus of the Ramstein Legacy drill, held June 3-14, was on developing the alliance’s integrated air and missile defense with an additional eye on combating Class 1 unmanned aerial system threats — a reference to small, mini and micro drones.” Read all about the drill and its participants in a piece by Elisabeth Gosselin-Malo of Defense News here >>> https://lnkd.in/gJhMr6Jj #drones #dronedetection #cuas #radar #defencetechnology #airdefence

We are proud to share that our radar was a key component in protecting the skies above the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Austrian Grand Prix 2024, integrated into Aaronia AG's AARTOS drone detection system. This high-speed c-UAS system ensured the safety of the event by providing the real-time positioning of unauthorized drones and their operators. With drones continuously proving to be a threat at large-scale events, it’s imperative that event security professionals take the necessary precautions to protect the airspace and Echodyne radar is purpose-built to protect critical environments from drones. “In addition to numerous drone sightings on the outskirts of the designated no-fly zones, we unfortunately had to intervene several times,” explains Stephan Kraschansky, CEO of Aaronia Austria. “In most cases, it was enough to warn the pilots about their misconduct. In a few cases, however, we had to take control of the drones and land them safely to avoid any risk. At the same time, the security officials took care of the drone pilots.” Read the full article from Unmanned Airspace >>> https://lnkd.in/gZSHUJfS #cuas #dronedetection #radar #eventsecurity #criticalinfrastructure #criticalinfrastructureprotection
