Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman joined students and staff at the Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps yesterday for a tree-planting ceremony. Students decorated pavers to represent their trades and Job Corps' 60th anniversary. The tree that had stood for many decades on this spot was knocked over by a storm last April. The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center is operated by ETR #educationandtrainingresources and MINACT #minactinc. #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #CommunityEngagement #treeplanting

Oneonta Job Corps Academy hosted the Teacher Ambassador Program for the second year in a row. Last year, teachers from Broome Tioga area partnered with their local workforce center to create an experience for educators to become familiar with programs outside the traditional college pathway. This year, CDO Workforce developed their own program and OJCA was able to include them as well. The collaborative efforts made by the OneStops and local schools has been wonderful for OJCA to witness (and be part of) because it enhances the ability for educators to provide multiple options for students leaving high school. OJCA is grateful to be apart of recommended programs for youth. #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #CommunityEngagement #workforcedevelopment

After the storm a short distance from the Iroquois Job Corps, located in the heart of the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in upstate New York. It is the perfect place to focus on one’s career training free from the distractions of home. Unless, of course, you’re distracted by beautiful scenery and rainbows. #jobcorps #careers #jobcorpsjourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #nationaliroquoiswildlifrefuge #rainbows

The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps took advantage of the recent beautiful summer weather to have a Student Appreciation Day. Students work hard training for jobs in the medical, office, construction, and transportation fields. A break gives them a chance to regroup and come back stronger. Thanks to all of the staff who made this event a success. Job Corps is awesome because we are! The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center is operated by ETR #educationandtrainingresources and MINAT #minactinc. #jobcorps #careerbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #positiveculture #summerfun

Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps Student Human Resource Officer (SHRO) Rodrequies Thompson spent a few days this past week at the Oneonta Job Corps. ETR encourages employees to learn from their counterparts at other centers. Although there are monthly calls, nothing quite beats in-person visits where one can see how others do it. Christa Eastwood (right) is the SHRO for Oneonta, and more than happy to share best practices with Rodrequies. Says Oneonta’s Business Engagement Specialist Jocelyn Plows (left): “Thanks B.L. Hooks for lending us your SHRO for the week! We almost didn’t give him back.” We do better together, always have and always will. #jobcorps #careerbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #collaboration

Congratulations to Shaniya King, Iroquois Job Corps’ Student of the Month! Shaniya, who is training to be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), enjoyed the tropical-themed awards ceremony. But being recognized for one’s hard work is always the best part. Jeanette Barr, Executive Assistant at the Iroquois Job Corps, was part of the team that turned the monthly Student Awards Ceremony into a tropical-themed game show. In the background is Student Human Resource Officer and MC Bob Eaton, HR Assistant Loretta Clark, and HR Director Samantha Hitchey. From musical coconuts to the limbo competition to, of course, the awards, it was a lot of fun. #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #positiveculture
