Our Youth Academic Support program is seeking dedicated volunteers for the upcoming Fall semester, from September 2nd to December 6th. Opportunities: Monday - Friday, 4 PM - 6 PM Options: Virtual and In-Person Volunteer Requirements: • Must be 16 years or older • Access to a computer and internet (for virtual volunteering) • Spanish is preferred but not required • Commit to at least one class day per week for the entire semester Whether you're a student, professional, or someone looking to give back, your support can make a significant difference in the lives of our youth. ☀️ Week 1 of our Summer Camp Session 2 was a great success! Our theme for the week was “Artists in the Making.” Our 1st and 2nd-grade campers explored the world of shapes and sizes, while our 3rd to 5th graders unleashed their creativity with 3D art using air-dry clay. In addition, campers honed their writing composition and storytelling skills by identifying and reflecting on the characteristics of role models in their lives. Our 6th to 8th-grade campers built meaningful connections with older adults from our intergenerational program, engaging in pro-social interactions, developing empathy, and boosting their self-confidence through creative dance movement. We look forward to next week’s theme: Nature Explorers! Stay tuned for our weekly recap!

Shoutout to our volunteers of the month! Silvia and Ron learned about El Buen through an event at St. Mark’s Episcopal. Ron has volunteered as an ESL instructor for one year and in our food pantry for two years, while Silvia has volunteered in our food pantry for three years. They enjoy the daily interactions with staff and other volunteers, appreciating the shared sense of purpose and humor. The culture of helping others, along with the dedication of the staff, volunteers, and the clients we serve, keeps Silvia and Ron motivated and engaged as volunteers. Thank you, Silvia and Ron, for your time and dedication to El Buen!
