A beautiful day in Atlanta today, where we commemorated the demolition of North DeKalb Mall to make way for Lulah Hills. It was a swingin' party, to be sure! “We’ve done this multiple times, but each time I recognize the passion of this team and how hard everyone has worked to bring us to this day." -- Jodie W. McLean. Congratulations to Southeast regional head, Herbert Ames, to the team at EDENS embarking on this massive and impactful mixed-use project, to our staff who put on a great show, and to the North DeKalb Community for your continued support. EDENS' Emalia Tamanikwa and Jules Hislop teamed up recently to talk about the power of inclusive design with our friends at NINE dot ARTS | Art Consulting and Creative Placemaking. How does placemaking go from status quo to creating welcoming spaces that feel like home? Find out here!
As the owner, developer, and steward of a nationally leading portfolio of more than 100 open-air retail and mixed-use shopping centers in high-growth markets coast to coast, EDENS designs places that achieve 3.5 trips per week and 5 hours of dwell time, reaching over 15 million people daily. In our latest #podcast episode, EDENS developers Emalia Tamanikwa and Jules Hislop describe some of the innovative strategies behind such success, including how they use experiential design practices to help people become more present, connect meaningfully with others, and recognize they’re part of something bigger than themselves. Tune in to learn about high-impact projects such as Lulah Hills in North DeKalb County, Atlanta, and the Duke District in D.C. – which includes significant integration with the reputable Howard University and other local organizations. 🎨 ✨ Today we unveiled a new mural at 27th + Larimer in Denver as one of four sites chosen for Absolute Equality’s national Juneteenth Mural Project. Denver has a rich history and legacy centered on black Americans. In the 1850s, free blacks and enslaved people journeyed alongside fur trappers and miners to Colorado in search of financial opportunities in the gold mines. The promise of freedom in the American Southwest made Denver a prime location for those who desired a life based on the idea of "absolute equality." -- absoluteequality.org We were thrilled to welcome back award-winning and world-renowned artist Thomas Evans aka Detour for the creation and unveiling of their incredible portrait of Clara Brown. If you’re in Denver’s RiNo district, please stop by Noble Riot to check out our latest mural. Photo by Erik Dean. Left to right: Darrel Anderson, Thomas Evans aka Detour, Al Gardner.

There’s a lot happening at Pleasant Shops!
In a world where running errands now demands an experience, shopping centers are stepping up their game into vibrant next-gen destinations. 🛒🏙️ The CM&B team worked with repeat client EDENS to revamp their grocery-anchored Pleasant Shops property, a bustling shopping destination 15 miles south of Downtown Boston. From new façade facelifts, updated signage, and decorative metal roofing to electrical upgrades and an outdoor turf and seating area, grabbing a coffee and groceries is no longer a chore! #PeopleBuilding #Construction #Contractor #RetailRepositioning #RetailCenter #RepeatClient

THIS, my friends, is great retail. Diversity + partnerships + unique brand + great product. And it just so happens to be Latina-lady owned. Angela Rakis and I are just 2 fun gals drinking cortaditos too late in the day in my favorite spot for coffee in the DMV - Colada Shop. Here’s why: In an era of copy-paste coffee shops, Daniella Senior has created some incredible spaces and menus featuring Caribbean flavors, amazing art, and local vendors….that feels and tastes unique. (Guava cheese pastries and Caribbean cocktails, IYKYK). I’ve been to nearly all of the 5+ locations here in the DMV (the menus vary between spots and I don’t want to miss a thing), and this one in the EDENS property in Cabin John Village has a really cool partnership with Shop Made in Maryland (fun local makers). To all my CRE friends outside the DC area looking for unique coffee and food concepts, check out Colada Shop. Our major cities are seriously lacking in cortaditos.
