Last week, the Foundation for Advancement of Diversity in IP Law hosted the Convocation of Scholars in Washington, D.C. on June 27-28, 2024. This event was a testament to our commitment to fostering academic excellence and advancing our mission in the field of intellectual property. The Convocation connected scholars with leaders in the patent bar, patent jurists, congressional staff with IP responsibilities, and senior officials from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It facilitated meaningful dialogue and collaboration among key stakeholders shaping the future of IP law. Highlights included: · A panel discussion and reception at Finnegan Henderson, featuring panelists Gregory Dolin, Peter Kim, Ana Victoria Christoff, Delon Lier, Ryan McDonnell, and moderator Cara Regan. · A panel discussion with congressional staff on Capitol Hill, moderated by Vince Garlock, with panelists Jacqui Kappler, Peter-Anthony Pappas, Thomas Blanford and Marla Grossman. · A luncheon at American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) with leaders from ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law, Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), Federal Circuit Bar Association®, and Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), moderated by Vince Garlock, Dana Robert Colarulli, Chris Katopis, Jessica Landacre, and Deborah Miron. · A panel discussion and reception with USPTO leadership, providing insights into patent and trademark policy trends.
