Chris Kojima, Global Head of Capital Solutions, recently shared his outlook on investment opportunities in growth and innovation in the private markets during a keynote presentation at the Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ) Private Equity & Venture Forum in Tokyo. Highlighting the structural changes that have occurred over the past several decades, he highlighted the four forces we have identified as creating a massive investable opportunity set for GA – and how we are positioned to deliver value to our capital partners.

We are proud to support Butternut Box | B Corp in their commitment to driving sustainability, innovation, and excellence in the pet food industry while feeding 250,000 happy and healthy dogs, and counting. Looking forward to continuing our partnership as the company champions a healthier future for our pets and our planet.
Sustainability is part of who we are at Butternut 🌏 As a purpose driven company and a BCorp, we know that we can’t be the industry leaders in Fresh dog food without caring about our impact 💛 We also know that the only way to be successful for the long haul is by doing business in a way that considers the needs of all our partners - our customers, our squad, our communities, and of course, the environment 🌱 Whilst we hold our paws up and acknowledge this is not something that can be achieved overnight, we are incredibly proud of the progress we have made so far and are committed to continually finding ways to improve. In 2023 we: - Significantly reduced the carbon intensity of our meals - Introduced Paws Days and our first ever sabbatical policy to enhance the wellbeing, learning, and development of our squad 🐾 - Further supported our local communities, by increasing the number of our charity partners and the hours volunteered across all locations 💛 - Partnered with Sedex to help us manage and improve social and environmental sustainability in our supply chain and introduced two new lower carbon protein meals to our Fresh range Read all about it on our 2023 Annual Impact Report below 👇

General Atlantic's climate growth fund BeyondNetZero, chaired by Lord John Browne, invests in companies focused on progressing climate and energy transition targets. We are excited by the opportunities created by recent global policy tailwinds to scale these innovative technologies.
Earlier this week I spoke at the first Global Energy Transition Congress and Exhibition in Milan. It brought together 300+ global leaders and international policy makers to address the challenges and opportunities emerging as a result of the global energy transition. The gathering allowed for substantive discussions on financing the energy transition with those best-placed to bring about change.

During London Climate Action Week, General Atlantic partnered with The Conduit to launch BeyondNetZero’s 2023 Annual Report and convene a discussion on the evolving role of private markets in decarbonizing the global economy. BeyondNetZero’s Rhea Hamilton, joined Chris Pyke of GRESB, Matt Scott from the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment (CGFI), and Amy Paterson of Systemiq Ltd., on a panel moderated by General Atlantic’s Federico Apéstegui Guardia. Reflecting on the rise of private equity-led products investing in climate transition at scale, the panel explored the integration of climate and sustainability factors across investors’ transition plans and the need to magnify support across high emission sectors. Rhea observed how objectives have evolved to encompass “real world, real economy performance measures” which has been pivotal in shaping how firms partner with portfolio companies to achieve progress in emissions reduction. “Early on, we brought in Systemiq to undertake detailed analysis on progress being achieved - we’re not marking our own homework when setting and progressing towards Science-Based Targets to set all of our portfolio companies on a net zero trajectory.”

Chairman of GA’s BeyondNetZero, John Browne, spoke with Barclays’s CS Venkatakrishnan on a panel focused on the future of the energy transition during London Climate Action Week. Many thanks to Sustainable Ventures for hosting this insightful discussion.
The energy transition has been high on the agenda at London Climate Action Week. I had the pleasure of interviewing Lord John Browne at a Barclays panel hosted by Sustainable Ventures. I also spoke to Anna Edwards at Bloomberg’s Sustainable Finance Forum. It is important for the energy system to transition and to decarbonise the real economy. The transition must be just and drive towards affordable, clean and secure energy.

“The hard truth is that we’ve done a poor job of reconciling corporate actions with the interests of society and the planet in a balanced way. Yet the urgent need to do so is undiminished.” Co-Founder and Chairman of BeyondNetZero, John Browne, was featured in a recent Financial Times story about the need for climate action, as well as companies’ progress with setting and meeting sustainability targets. General Atlantic welcomed Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation, for a fireside chat with Martin Escobari, Co-President and Head of Global Growth Equity, and Annie Paydar, Global Head of Human Capital. The Ford Foundation is a social justice organization working to address inequality and build a future grounded in justice. As we commemorate Juneteenth and reflect on the ongoing efforts to advance equity for Black Americans, Darren’s insight fuels important conversations about the actions our colleagues can take to continue to foster inclusivity both inside and outside of GA.
