We are honored to support the future of commercial roofing at the SkillsUSA student competition in Atlanta this week! It was great getting to know the students, their teachers, and their families at the reception we held at Georgia-Pacific Center. We believe that supporting our future roofing professionals is critical for America's foundation. #SkillsUSA #NLSC24 #DensDeck

Last week, Georgia-Pacific LLC Gypsum was honored to support the future of the commercial roofing industry at the SkillsUSA student competition in Atlanta. I was truly inspired by the innovative perspectives on the future of the industry shared by the talented students who attended our reception at Georgia-Pacific Center. Supporting these future roofing professionals is vital to our industry's growth, and if their enthusiasm and talent are any indication, the future is bright! #NLSC24

This year, our Big Island containerboard mill in Bedford County, Virginia, earned its first US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR® Certification for improving its energy performance. Only the top 25% of industrial facilities become certified plants. The best solutions in business start with getting input from the right people. During a summit last year, the GP Cellulose team shared their top challenges and needs regarding their system that monitors and manages facility distribution and inventory. With feedback from the field, and partnership with Infor, another Koch company, a solution was born that led GP Cellulose employees to work more efficiently and meet customer needs. https://lnkd.in/euGmVSbc

When Harold Summers, reliability manager at our corrugated facility in Martinsville, Virginia, identified a critical safety risk in a maintenance task, he dedicated nearly a decade to developing a solution– the threader winder machine. Summers' innovation began with one focus: making sure employees go home the way they showed up to work. It significantly reduces the risks associated with changing the massive double backer belts, while also increasing efficiency. We are proud to share that this innovation was recognized with the ‘Innovation in Safety’ Achievement Award from the Fibre Box Association. Read more: https://bit.ly/3xb4RIw

Environmental Health &Safety Intern at Georgia Pacific LLC | Resident Assistant & Applied Engineering Ambassador at Jacksonville State University
This week I had the amazing opportunity of joining around 100 interns at the Summer Kickoff event, hosted by Georgia Pacific LLC, in downtown Atlanta! The event was hosted by the Early Careers Team at Koch Industries and they did an incredible job at making this experience the greatest and most fulfilling experience I could have ever asked for. From networking and greeting fellow interns from across the country, to learning and growing knowledge about the exciting work I will be partaking in over the summer, this trip was truly filled with the best of surprises!Tomorrow I have a full facility tour of the plant I will be interning at, and then officially starting my role this upcoming Tuesday. The best is yet to come! Shoutouts: Alexis Renikow - MBA Candidate Brittany Hobbs Kelli Durden As well as all the other Koch Early Career employees that helped make this event such a dream to be a part of! #GPIntern #KockIndustriesKickoff #Internlife
